Exchange Server Engineer

6-month Contract (with possibility to extend)

Fully Remote (Eastern time zone work hours)

$40.00 – 48.00/hour (D.O.E.)


A leading online and digital financial services enterprise is seeking a Microsoft Exchange Engineer to join the Messaging team to support Exchange and Outlook functionality for users, daily operations, and an upcoming data center migration. Responsibilities include (but are not limited to):

  • Provide Third-Level operational support for an enterprise banking messaging environment, including end users, mailbox support, access control, and group management, among others.
  • End-User Outlook Support: Work directly with employees to troubleshoot and resolve issues with Outlook desktop, Outlook on the Web (OWA), and mobile clients, including profile rebuilds, OST file repairs, calendar sync issues, and add-in management.
  • Mailbox Management: Handle daily provisioning, de-provisioning, and enablement of user mailboxes across on-premises Exchange and Exchange Online.
  • Permissions & Access Control: Manage and audit mailbox permissions (Send As, Full Access, Send on Behalf), calendar delegation, and folder-level permissions.
  • Group Administration: Create, modify, and maintain Distribution Lists, Security Groups, and Microsoft 365 Groups, including managing group ownership and membership.
  • Monitor and optimize the environment, develop and maintain documentation, knowledge articles, runbooks, and playbooks.


Required skills:

  • 5+ years technical experience implementing, supporting, administering, and migrating Microsoft Exchange and M365 Services
  • Extensive experience managing Windows Server OS environments
  • Strong understanding of mail dependencies with AD, DNS, routing, Load Balancing, and TLS.
  • Strong communication skills, both oral and written to all levels of management and staff
  • Effective problem solving, analysis and follow-up skills
  • Ability to take ownership and follow through on incident resolution, properly communicating status throughout resolution cycle
  • Self-directed and proactive with a strong focus on customer service.
