Senior Business Intelligence Developer

Position Overview

The Business Intelligence Developer will be a key player in both the architectural and analytical aspects of our business intelligence initiatives. This role offers the chance to make a visible impact by improving how information is organized, understood, and used across the organization.

Key Responsibilities

1. SQL Development & Data Retrieval (30%) – Design, write, and optimize complex SQL queries, views, stored procedures, and validation logic to support reporting, analytics, and operational business needs. Ensure data is accurate and structured for downstream reporting consumption.
2. Bulk Updates & Data Clean-Up (25%) – Author and execute bulk data updates and clean-up activities across our operational database while maintaining accuracy, consistency, and auditability. Validate impacted records before and after changes, investigate data anomalies, and partner with stakeholders to resolve data quality issues efficiently.
3. Power BI Development & Semantic Modeling (20%) – Build and maintain Power BI datasets, measures, dashboards, and reports that translate business requirements into scalable, user-friendly analytic solutions. Develop data models, DAX measures, and visualizations that support decision-making across departments.
4. ETL, Data Integration & Automation (10%) – Develop and support ETL pipelines to move, transform, and integrate data from multiple systems into a single consolidated data warehouse and reporting environment. Work with Microsoft Fabric, APIs, and other data sources to automate repeatable, reliable data flows.
5. Data Quality, Documentation & Governance (10%) – Perform data validation, troubleshoot data issues, document key logic and processes, and reinforce best practices in data governance, quality, and performance optimization.

6. Ad Hoc Data Analysis & Business Insights (2.5%) – Analyze large datasets to identify trends, patterns, and performance drivers. Define, calculate, and validate KPIs and business metrics, and turn raw data into clear insights and recommendations for stakeholders.
7. Stakeholder Presentation (2.5%) – Clearly and effectively communicate key insights and findings to team members and leadership. Make data-driven recommendations to influence business decisions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Statistics, Data Science, Computer Science, Mathematics or related field is required; Master’s degree is preferred but not required
• Prior experience or internships in Business Intelligence roles
• Expertise in SQL, Power BI, Power Query, and DAX
• Strong understanding of data accuracy, validation, and quality assurance practices
• Previous experience or understanding of data warehouse construction
• Understanding of Star Schema and Snowflake Schema
• Ability to clearly articulate problems and solutions to both business stakeholders and technical team members
