Job Description
Role and Responsibilities
- Marketing Web Design: Design beautiful, high-impact marketing websites for deep tech startups. These are sites that function as powerful brand experiences and compelling business tools, not just digital brochures. Your primary measure of success is whether a site makes a visitor feel something about a company, not whether it hits a conversion metric. You think in terms of narrative, visual impact, and brand expression first, and you understand how to translate complex technical subject matter into web experiences that are clear, credible, and arresting.
- Brand Translation: Work closely with HAUS brand designers to take a freshly built visual identity and translate it into a fully realized web design. This is one of the most critical parts of the role. A brand system that works beautifully on paper needs to come alive on screen, and that requires a designer who understands both mediums. You'll make considered decisions about how typography, color, imagery, and motion behave in a web context while staying true to the brand's intent.
- Copywriter Collaboration: Partner closely with HAUS copywriters throughout the design process. Great marketing web design is inseparable from great copy. The two should push each other. You'll work in tandem with the copywriter to develop page layouts that give the words room to breathe, reinforce the narrative structure of each page, and ensure that design and language feel like they were made for each other, because they were.
- Developer Handoff & Collaboration: Work hand-in-hand with HAUS's developer who builds and deploys each site. You'll design in Figma with handoff in mind (i.e., clean files, well-organized components, clear annotations, and thoughtful attention to how your designs will actually be built in Webflow.) You understand enough about how the web works to design things that are both beautiful and buildable, and you communicate proactively with the developer throughout the process to resolve constraints before they become problems.
- AI-Accelerated Workflow: Actively explore and adopt AI tools that improve the speed and quality of your web design work. Whether that's using AI for image generation, copy ideation, layout exploration, or design QA, you treat AI as a creative collaborator and productivity multiplier. You stay current with the rapidly evolving landscape of design-adjacent AI tools and bring new capabilities to the team on an ongoing basis.
- Production & Quality Control: Prepare and finalize design files with precision for developer handoff. This includes maintaining organized, well-labeled Figma files, building reusable component libraries, and ensuring every detail (e.g., typography, spacing, color, imagery) is exactly right before it reaches the developer. You conduct thorough reviews of live sites before launch to ensure the built product faithfully reflects the design intent.
- Brand Consistency Across the Web: Act as the guardian of each client's brand identity within the web context. Once a site is designed and launched, you'll maintain templates, modules, and design systems that make it easy for clients to add pages or content without breaking the visual language you've established. Every page of every site should feel like a coherent, intentional extension of the brand.
Qualifications
- Passion for Deep Tech: You must love deep tech and be genuinely excited by cutting-edge technologies. Our clients are building companies in AI, robotics, aerospace, biotech, quantum computing, and beyond. The designers who thrive at HAUS get curious about what their clients are actually doing and let that curiosity inform the work to produce sites that feel specific and credible rather than generic.
- Education & Experience: Bachelor's degree in Graphic Design, Visual Communication, Web Design, or a related field. At least 2–3 years of web design experience, ideally at a creative agency or in a role focused on marketing websites. What matters most is your portfolio. We want to see marketing websites you've designed that are visually exceptional and demonstrate a clear understanding of brand expression on the web.

- Design Software Proficiency: Figma is your primary tool and you're highly proficient in it, including component libraries, auto layout, and design systems. Adobe Creative Suite, particularly Photoshop and Illustrator, is required for asset creation and image work. Familiarity with Webflow is expected; you don't need to be a developer, but you should understand how Webflow works and design with its capabilities and constraints in mind.
- Typography & Visual Design Excellence: An exceptional eye for typography, layout, and visual hierarchy is non-negotiable. You understand how typographic decisions that work in print or branding need to be adapted for the web, and you make those adaptations thoughtfully. Your work is visually refined, with a strong sense of composition, whitespace, and detail.
- Brand Fluency: You're highly skilled at picking up a brand identity someone else has built and extending it into a new medium without losing what makes it work. You understand brand systems deeply enough to make smart judgment calls when the guidelines don't cover every situation and you know when to check in with the brand designer versus when to just make the call.
- Web Design Fundamentals: Solid understanding of responsive design, grid systems, web typography, and how design translates to the browser. You don't need to write code, but you should understand what's easy, hard, and impossible to build, and design accordingly. Familiarity with Webflow's design paradigm is a meaningful advantage.
- AI Tool Curiosity & Fluency: A genuine enthusiasm for AI tools and their application to the design workflow is important. You're not waiting for someone to tell you about the next useful tool because you're already experimenting with it. You're constantly expanding your toolkit and sharing what you find with the team.
- Attention to Detail & Organization: Meticulous about file organization, component naming, and design consistency. You manage multiple web projects simultaneously without letting quality slip, and you have strong habits around version control and file management in Figma. Developers love working with your files.
- Communication & Collaboration: Excellent communicator who works fluidly across disciplines with brand designers, copywriters, and developers simultaneously. You can articulate design decisions clearly, give and receive feedback constructively, and flag issues proactively before they slow the project down. Comfortable in a fully remote environment across time zones via Slack and Zoom.
Preferences
- Motion design and interactive prototyping skills are a significant plus. Marketing websites increasingly rely on animation and scroll-based interactions to create impact, and a designer who can concept and spec these is enormously valuable.
- Any experience with 3D tools (e.g., Spline, Cinema 4D, Blender) as applied to web design is also welcome.
