Job Description
About the Company
We are an established healthcare technology manufacturer developing our next-generation platform. We are building an intelligent, connected clinical communication device that integrates edge AI processing, advanced audio capture, and real-time connectivity with hospital systems. This is a ground-floor opportunity to lead the technical architecture of a new product that will set the direction for our company over the next decade.
About the Role
As our Senior Embedded Systems Engineer, you will own the system architecture of a new intelligent clinical device — from room-level hardware through floor-level edge computing infrastructure. You will be the technical bridge between our internal hardware and software teams and our outsourced specialty engineering partners, ensuring all components come together into a reliable, certifiable product.
Location
This role is based at our Arizona office in the greater Phoenix metropolitan area, one of the fastest-growing embedded systems and semiconductor engineering hubs in the country. The Phoenix metro is home to major operations from TSMC, Intel, NXP, Microchip Technology, ON Semiconductor, and Raytheon — you will be surrounded by a thriving embedded engineering community. We offer a hybrid work arrangement with on-site presence required during critical development phases (board bring-up, prototype integration, partner knowledge transfer sessions). During steady-state development, a flexible hybrid schedule is available. Relocation assistance is available for qualified candidates currently located outside of Arizona.
Responsibilities
- Architect and own the embedded platform for our next-generation product, from room-level edge devices to floor-level AI processing infrastructure
- Lead technical integration of edge AI modules running real-time audio processing and classification pipelines
- Manage the interface between the audio DSP subsystem and the AI inference engine, ensuring clean signal handoff and low-latency processing
- Serve as the primary technical liaison with outsourced DSP/audio and ML/AI engineering partners — reviewing their work, managing integration, and ensuring knowledge transfers to our internal team
- Design the communication architecture between room-level devices and facility-level processing servers over enterprise IP networks
- Collaborate with our existing hardware engineers on PCB integration, thermal management, and enclosure design for medical-grade reliability
- Collaborate with our software team on API design between the edge platform and our existing application infrastructure
- Drive the system through UL/CSA certification, and any applicable FDA regulatory processes
- Establish embedded software development practices including CI/CD for firmware, and remote diagnostics
