Job Description

Senior Full Stack Systems Engineer (AI-Enabled)

Remote | Full-Time

About the Role

We are looking for a Senior Full Stack Systems Engineer with AI-enabled development capabilities to join our growing engineering team. This is not a single-discipline role — we need an end-to-end systems engineer who can take an application from zero to MVP, into production, and through the challenges of scaling to a massive, distributed system. You will architect, build, deploy, and maintain full-stack SaaS applications that serve healthcare organizations nationwide.

Healthcare IT experience is a strong plus but not required — we will invest in teaching the domain. What is required is a genuine desire to specialize in HealthIT and build technology that directly impacts patient care and healthcare delivery.

Responsibilities

  • Architect, develop, and maintain scalable full-stack web applications end-to-end — from front-end interfaces through back-end services, infrastructure, CI/CD, QA, and production operations.
  • Own the full application lifecycle: ideation → MVP → production → performance optimization → scaling to distributed systems that far exceed original design requirements.
  • Integrate AI-powered tools and workflows (GitHub Copilot, Claude, Cursor, ChatGPT, or similar) into daily development to accelerate delivery and improve code quality.
  • Build and consume RESTful APIs and microservices architectures.
  • Design and manage cloud infrastructure, CI/CD pipelines, monitoring, and observability.
  • Implement quality assurance strategies including automated testing, integration testing, and production health checks.
  • Collaborate with product, design, and operations teams to translate business requirements into robust technical solutions.
  • Implement and maintain EHR integrations, ensuring HL7/FHIR compliance where applicable.
  • Ensure all development adheres to HIPAA security and privacy standards.
  • Conduct code reviews, mentor junior developers, and contribute to engineering best practices.
  • Troubleshoot production issues, optimize application performance, and lead incident response.
  • Participate in architectural decisions and contribute to long-term technical strategy.
  • Stay current with emerging AI tools, frameworks, and full-stack technologies relevant to HealthIT.

Requirements

  • 7–15 years of professional experience in full-stack web development, with demonstrated progression in scope and complexity.
  • End-to-end systems thinking: proven experience not just building features, but owning applications through the full lifecycle — from initial build through production operations and scaling. You must understand how DevOps, QA, infrastructure, and application development interconnect.
  • Proven experience scaling applications beyond their original architecture to support significantly larger loads, distributed workloads, or multi-tenant requirements.
  • Strong proficiency in modern front-end frameworks (React, Next.js, Vue, or Angular) and back-end technologies (Node.js, Python, or similar).
  • Demonstrated experience using AI-assisted development tools to enhance productivity and code quality.
  • Solid understanding of relational and non-relational databases (PostgreSQL, MongoDB, etc.).
  • Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP), containerization, and CI/CD pipelines.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently in a remote environment.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills.
  • A genuine interest in specializing in healthcare technology.
  • Must have a personal PC/workstation capable of handling professional development workloads.

Nice to Have

  • Prior experience in HealthIT, MedTech, or regulated industries.
  • Familiarity with healthcare interoperability standards (HL7, FHIR).
  • Working knowledge of HIPAA compliance as it relates to software development.
  • Experience building or integrating AI/ML features into web applications (e.g., NLP, predictive analytics, intelligent automation).
  • Background in DevOps practices, containerization (Docker, Kubernetes), and infrastructure-as-code.
  • Contributions to open-source projects or a strong public portfolio.

What We Offer

  • Fully remote work environment.
  • The opportunity to work on meaningful technology that directly impacts healthcare delivery.
  • A collaborative, innovation-driven team culture.
  • Professional growth within a company at the intersection of healthcare and cutting-edge technology.

To apply, send your resume and portfolio or GitHub profile. We'd love to hear from you.
