About The Role

We are currently seeking a highly skilled DevOps / AWS / Python Engineer to join our team in multiple locations within Maryland, Missouri, and Virginia. This is a direct placement opportunity with paid relocation assistance available, offering a competitive annual salary of up to $180,000. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in automating manual processes, supporting the deployment of microservices, and maintaining mission-critical systems. This position requires a proactive individual with a strong background in cloud infrastructure, containerization, scripting, and security, who can collaborate effectively within a dynamic team environment. The successful applicant will contribute to the development, integration, deployment, and sustainment of complex systems, ensuring operational excellence and security compliance.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate should possess a bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Information Technology, Computer Science, or a closely related discipline, along with at least four years of relevant experience, or a master’s degree with a minimum of two years of experience. Candidates must hold an active Top Secret Security Clearance with the ability to obtain SCI access post-hire. Certification in CompTIA Security+ CE or an equivalent security credential is required, along with DoD 8570 IAT Level II certification. The candidate should demonstrate a proactive attitude, excellent communication skills, and experience with the following:

  • 2-3 years of recent experience managing Kubernetes infrastructure, preferably with OpenShift or EKS
  • 2-3 years of experience working with Docker containers
  • Proficiency in scripting languages such as Microsoft PowerShell and Python
  • Experience administering both Microsoft Windows and Linux operating systems
  • Understanding of custom code development, code reviews, and error troubleshooting
  • Experience with GITLAB functionality, scripting, and error codes
  • Hands-on experience with AWS services such as CloudFormation, S3, ECS, Lambda, API Gateway, and autoscaling
  • Knowledge of cloud-based architectures and DevSecOps methodologies
  • Experience developing and managing CI/CD pipelines
  • Familiarity with team collaboration tools like Jira, Confluence, and RocketChat
  • Ability to support development testing and security remediation activities

Responsibilities

The selected candidate will be responsible for a broad range of technical duties, including but not limited to:

  • Automating manual processes using Python, PowerShell, and other scripting tools to improve operational efficiency
  • Supporting the deployment and management of microservices within a DevSecOps pipeline in a multi-tenant Windows and Linux environment
  • Developing, updating, and maintaining GitLab CI/CD pipeline code to streamline deployment workflows
  • Configuring, troubleshooting, and deploying Docker containers to support various environments
  • Reviewing code within Git repositories and creating comprehensive engineering documentation
  • Providing technical guidance and support for all capabilities and microservices, ensuring best practices
  • Supporting developer testing activities and ensuring deployment success
  • Creating and maintaining detailed DevOps documentation to facilitate knowledge sharing and compliance
  • Conducting security remediation activities based on scan results to ensure system security and compliance
  • Collaborating with cross-functional teams to support system sustainment and continuous improvement initiatives
