Position Overview

Kiewit Infrastructure Engineering (KIE) has an immediate opening for a dynamic Traffic Engineer in our growing Traffic/ITS Group in Lone Tree, Colorado. You will be part of our rapidly growing Infrastructure Design Department, which includes structural, geotechnical, MOT, pavement, utilities, drainage, roadway, rail, traffic, and materials disciplines. This infrastructure design group is a multi-faceted and leading-edge division of Kiewit with best-in-class technical expertise focused on the design-build delivery of infrastructure projects.

As an experienced Traffic Engineer, you will be leading and mentoring early-career engineers/designers and collaborating with our other design centers to provide traffic engineering expertise and design for design/build and other alternative delivery projects across North America.

Location

This role will be based out of our Lone Tree, Colorado location. We offer relocation assistance for candidates outside of the area.

Responsibilities

  • Lead / perform preliminary- to final-design tasks – in two or more of the following traffic engineering sub-disciplines – for North America projects through coordination with multi-disciplinary design teams:
    • Traffic operations and safety
    • Traffic signal design
    • Intelligent Transportation System (ITS) design
    • Tolling systems design & integration
    • Signing and pavement markings
    • Roadway lighting/electrical design
  • Lead interdisciplinary design coordination to ensure that project elements are compatible.
  • Will be involved in the technical production and delivery of all traffic components for North America projects through coordination with multiple design teams.
  • Analyze and evaluate complex design and construction phasing plans to formulate effective traffic engineering strategies, and to ensure compliance with the feasibility and safety requirements. Lead project technical meetings and provide coordination to resolve design issues Sign and seal final design of project traffic elements such as traffic signals, signing and striping, ITS, and illumination plans
  • Opportunities to supervise, mentor and evaluate junior and entry level staff's production and delivery of project reports, plans, specifications and estimates for traffic portions of Infrastructure projects.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in Civil Engineering or Electrical Engineering. An emphasis in traffic engineering is desirable.
  • Minimum of 6 years of transportation project experience in North America, performing similar traffic design functions as outlined above.
  • Professional Engineer licensure required. PTOE is recommended
  • Demonstrable knowledge and experience in two or more of the following Traffic subdisciplines:
    • Traffic operations and safety
    • Traffic signal design
    • Intelligent Transportation System (ITS) design
    • Tolling systems design & integration
    • Signing and pavement markings
    • Roadway lighting/electrical design
  • Working knowledge and experience with MicroStation/OpenRoads Designer (ORD) or AutoCAD / Civil 3D platforms
  • Skills in traffic simulation / modeling software including Synchro/SimTraffic, Vissim, TransModeler, HCS, and similar platforms are desirable

Base Compensation: $115,000/yr - $145,000/yr

(Actual compensation is subject to variation due to such factors as education, experience, skillset, and/or location)
