Job Description
We're looking for a Senior Engineer (PE) with deep expertise in water and wastewater treatment to lead and execute projects from conceptual design through completion. This role involves working closely with project teams to develop world-class designs and solutions, adapting project plans based on budget constraints, client needs, and design factors.
Responsibilities
- Lead the design and execution of water and/or wastewater treatment and infrastructure projects
- Become a subject matter expert in regional treatment plant operations and design.
- Manage daily technical work, project planning, scope, schedules, and budgets.
- Develop project objectives and performance goals, maintaining client and stakeholder communication.
- Support business development through technical sales, proposal preparations, and presentations.
- Expand career growth opportunities within a fast-growing regional and national water practice.
- Plan, organize, and communicate technical project needs to department management and mentor staff.
- Provide design-build support for water and wastewater projects in collaboration with Modern Engineering Solutions engineering team.

Qualifications
Required:

- Bachelor's degree in Civil or Master of Science, Environmental Engineering
- PE license in Texas (or ability to obtain within 6 months)
- Minimum 5 years of experience in water and/or wastewater engineering, with strong preference for municipal facilities design
- Strong background in water or wastewater processes — filtration, hydraulics, chemical feed systems, biological treatment, BNR, or solids processing
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects with thorough knowledge of engineering techniques and procedures
- Familiarity with TCEQ regulations and Texas permitting processes
- Proficient with process simulation software (e.g., Hysys, Aspen, HTRI), Microsoft Office Suite, and relevant engineering design codes (ASME, ANSI, API, PIP, NACE).
- Excellent communication, problem-solving, and team leadership skills
- Willingness to travel for site visits within Texas (approx. 10–15%)
- Texas-based candidates only
Preferred:
- Master's degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering
- Experience with process simulation or hydraulic modeling software
- Background in both treatment facility design and conveyance/distribution systems
- Track record of mentoring engineers toward PE licensure
Reports to: CEO / Principal Engineer
Expected Salary: $175,000 – $200,000 annually, based on experience and qualifications. Total compensation includes a base salary and eligibility for our discretionary year-end incentive bonus program.
