About Massive Brush Studios

Massive Brush Studios builds games that feel great to play. Animation is a core part of that feel — from the weight of a character's footstep to the read of a combat combo. We're looking for an animator who combines traditional craft with a modern AI-assisted workflow to deliver more, faster, without sacrificing quality.


The Role

This is not a role for someone who wants to avoid AI tools. We actively want an animator who has integrated AI-assisted motion tools into their daily workflow — whether that's Cascadeur for physics-based animation, Radical/Plask for motion capture cleanup, Deep Motion for pose estimation, or similar tools — and uses them to accelerate output while maintaining quality control.

You'll be responsible for creating, cleaning, and implementing character animations in UE5 or Unity — from locomotion and combat to cutscene and cinematic work. Strong traditional animation fundamentals are still required; AI tools amplify your skills, they don't replace them.


What You'll Do

  • Create character animations: locomotion sets, combat, interactions, idles, transitions
  • Use AI-assisted tools (Cascadeur, Radical, Plask, DeepMotion, or equivalent) to accelerate animation production
  • Clean and polish AI-generated or mocap animation to production quality
  • Implement animations inside UE5 or Unity — blend trees, state machines, animation graphs
  • Work with riggers to ensure animations play back correctly on provided rigs
  • Collaborate with game designers on feel, timing, and game-feel feedback loops
  • Optimize animation assets for target platform budgets
  • Contribute to defining the AI animation workflow for the team


What We're Looking For

REQUIREMENTS ✓

  • 3+ years of game animation experience, with shipped title credits
  • Strong traditional animation fundamentals — weight, timing, arcs, overlap
  • Active experience with at least one AI animation tool (Cascadeur, Radical, Plask, DeepMotion, etc.)
  • Proficient in Maya or Blender for animation
  • Experience implementing animations in UE5 or Unity (blend trees, state machines)
  • Business-fluent English · Same-day responsiveness

STRONG PLUS POINTS ★

  • Mocap pipeline experience (cleanup, retargeting, editing)
  • Procedural animation or physics-based animation systems
  • Facial animation and blend shape/morph target work
  • Cinematic/cutscene animation experience
  • UE5 Control Rig or Sequencer experience
  • Has experimented with or built AI-assisted animation pipelines for a team


About the AI Workflow Requirement

We're not asking if you've heard of Cascadeur. We want to see how you actually use AI tools in production. In your application, tell us: which tools you use, how they fit into your pipeline, and what the before/after looks like in terms of speed or quality. Show us your workflow, not just your output.


Communication Requirements

  • Fluent English — written and spoken, used daily
  • Same-day responsiveness during working hours — replies within the business day, not 24–48 hrs
  • Proactive communication — flag blockers early, don't wait to be asked
  • Async-friendly — comfortable with written updates, Slack/Discord, and video calls
