The Data Engineer - Insights & Analytics is responsible for the development and implementation of data pipeline solutions to support the organization’s reporting, analytics, and other data needs. The developer will work closely with stakeholders across functional areas to deliver well-structured data in a reliable and timely way.
Flexible Work Policy: The work for the Data Engineer position is completed 100% remotely anywhere in the United States except Hawaii or United States Territories. This position may have the potential to travel up to 20% dependent on business needs.

Responsibilities
- Design and build large scale datasets for a wide range of consumer needs
- Build, test, and implement highly efficient data pipelines using a variety of techniques
- Ensure consistent use of standard data structures
- Analyze new data sources to understand quality, availability, and content
- Write technical design documentation
- Create and executes unit tests
- Supports QA team during testing
- Other duties as assigned by manager
- Internal: Insights & Analytics Leaders and Associates, Cross-Functional members of US Foods
- External: None
- Remote: This role is fully remote, and the associate is expected to perform assigned responsibilities from a home-based environment.
- Must possess a minimum of 5 years of experience in data engineering or other relevant area
- Must possess Proficiency in one or more of the following:
- SQL
- Snowflake or other cloud data platforms
- Python
- AWS (especially Lambda, S3)
- Linux / bash / shell scripting
- And Familiarity with: Use of CI/CD tools (Chef, Jenkins, Bamboo, Git/Bitbucket); Supporting self-service reporting and analytics; Working with structured and semi-structured data
- Proven ability to model data for reporting and analytics needs
- Proven ability to analyze and understand existing processes and code
- Works and communicates effectively with all levels of management
- Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal skills
- Must work well within team-oriented environments
- Up to 5% of travel may be needed for business reasons
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field
- Preferred experience with Airflow or Dagster as orchestration layer; API development and integration experience; Tableau or Sigma Computing for BI / reporting; dbt
