Job Description
Junior Designer (Letterpress & Print)
Part-Time Contract | Remote (U.S.-based)
At Swell Press, the magic is in the process.
We are a modern letterpress studio based in Southern California, creating luxury wedding stationery for clients worldwide. Our work is rooted in a deep respect for this centuries-old craft, paired with a constant (and yes, slightly obsessive) pursuit of refinement, beauty, and innovation in print.
We are a small, highly collaborative team that cares deeply about what we create and how we create it. We hold ourselves to high standards - thoughtful design, precise execution, and an unwavering attention to detail.
We are expanding and looking to bring on a Junior Designer (remote) who is excited about typography, print, and the craft behind what we do.
This role is ideal for someone who enjoys meticulous, detail-driven work and wants to grow within a design-focused, process-oriented studio.
What You’ll Do
- Execute wedding invitation suites in Adobe Illustrator using pre-designed templates and established creative direction (invitation, inserts, envelopes, and assembly components) based on detailed project specifications
- Apply a discerning design eye to refine layouts, typography, spacing, and hierarchy within established templates
- Execute event day stationery (menus, place cards, signage, etc.) while maintaining consistency with the clients’ established overall suite design
- Implement revisions based on internal and client feedback with accuracy and efficiency
- Manage multiple projects at once, ensuring all work is completed within established timelines
- Prepare production-ready files for digital print and letterpress, following internal standards and specifications
- Assist with variable data projects (guest addressing, place cards, etc.), including data merge and file setup
- Maintain an extremely high level of organization, file management, and attention to detail across all projects
- Collaborate closely with the team across design, production, and project management (via Asana and Slack)
