Who We're Looking For 🌟

We’re searching for an experienced Senior Backend Engineer (PHP) to join our Channels Platform Team and help us support and grow the main Meta and TikTok channels.

Our mission is to keep these channels running at their best while making development smoother and more enjoyable for our product engineering teams.

You’ll work closely with talented teammates to build the foundation of the Channels Platform — creating scalable, reliable, and easy-to-extend solutions that make it simple for product teams to add new features and integrations. Your work will play a big part in how Manychat delivers value to businesses and keeps our platform strong and stable.

What You'll Do 🚀

• Contribute to setting team goals and defining milestones that drive real impact.
• Build a highly cohesive, loosely coupled Channels Platform, standardizing how the Manychat system integrates with third-party services.
• Take ownership of key components of the Manychat system, ensuring their health, reliability, and full observability across all third-party interactions.
• Define and monitor key SLAs/SLOs, respond proactively to issues, and act as a guardian of system stability.
• Enhance the developer experience by collaborating with technical stakeholders and improving the system’s technical state where it matters most.
• Act as a strong bridge between Meta/TikTok’s API innovations and the delivery of new features to Manychat users.
• Identify and pursue growth opportunities for yourself and your team.
• Influence and refine collaboration processes with product teams to achieve greater efficiency.
• Share your expertise with the wider community by writing for the Manychat Engineering Blog and speaking at professional conferences.

TO SHINE IN THIS ROLE 💥

You’ll Need

• 5+ years of experience as a PHP developer (we use PHP 8.5).
• Proficiency in English, and ideally experience working with global teams.
• Proficiency in relational database management (we use PostgreSQL).
• Experience writing clean, concise, readable, and testable code and test cases.
• The ability to own and lead long-term projects and initiatives.
• A strong engineering and problem-solving mindset.
• Adaptability to ambiguity and comfort working in a fast-paced environment.
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively in a dynamic setting.
• A proactive, self-driven approach — being a leader for yourself.
  
  

It Would Be Great If You Have

• Experience with high-load systems, queueing mechanisms, third-party APIs, infrastructure, and DevOps.
• Knowledge of replication, partitioning, sharding, NoSQL solutions, and analytical systems — or other aspects of advanced, in-depth database work.
