We are supporting a leading global hedge fund in building out a high-impact Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) team focused on equities trading systems in Hong Kong. This team sits at the core of a mission-critical, high-performance trading environment, where system reliability, speed, and precision directly impact trading outcomes.

The Role
As an SRE, you will operate at the intersection of software engineering and production, working closely with developers, traders, and trade support teams to build and run highly reliable systems that underpin equities trading strategies.
This is a deeply technical, Python-heavy engineering role. You will be expected to write production-quality code at a level comparable to software engineers, contributing directly to the design, stability, and performance of trading systems. You will be embedded across the full lifecycle from early-stage development to live trading ensuring systems are robust, scalable, and optimised for real-world market conditions.
Key Responsibilities
- Own reliability, availability, and performance of equities trading platforms and services
- Develop high-quality, production-grade Python code for automation, tooling, and system optimisation
- Partner with developers and trading teams to deliver production-ready trading applications
- Debug complex, time-sensitive production issues in live trading environments
- Build and enhance monitoring, alerting, and observability for trading systems
- Lead incident management and drive improvements through detailed post-incident analysis
- Design and evolve scalable, low-latency infrastructure supporting equities trading
- Eliminate manual processes through automation and engineering solutions
- Champion SRE principles across trading and engineering teams

What We’re Looking For
- Strong computer science fundamentals (data structures, algorithms, distributed systems)
- Advanced Python expertise ability to build and maintain production-level systems (not just scripting)
- Experience working in high-performance or trading environments, ideally equities
- Strong understanding of modern software engineering practices (CI/CD, testing, version control)
- Solid Linux knowledge and networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, LAN/WAN)
- Experience with cloud platforms (GCP preferred) and containerised environments
- Proven ability to debug and operate distributed systems under pressure
- Experience with databases (SQL or similar)
Nice to Have
- Direct experience supporting equities trading systems
- Exposure to low-latency systems or market data infrastructure
- Familiarity with JavaScript/CSS or internal tooling interfaces
