Job Description:

Blizzard Entertainment is seeking a highly motivated individual for our Worldbuilding Team on World of Warcraft. This position will collaborate with the Art and Design teams to build Azeroth itself, the highly immersive beautiful world that is one of the most important characters of our game.

This position will involve the creative design, artistic and technical implementation of our outdoor world zones, dungeons, raids, arenas, battlegrounds and more. The ideal candidate has strong level design, technical and artistic skills with a keen sense for composition and visual aesthetic. They will be required to sculpt and form 3D terrain, while also being able to integrate the core gameplay experience and visual storytelling for our players.

In addition, we expect candidates to have great communication skills, boundless creativity, knowledge of World of Warcraft and a longstanding passion for playing games.

This role is anticipated to be a hybrid work position, with some work on-site and some work-from-home. The potential home studio is Irvine, CA.

Responsibilities:

• Use proprietary tools to prop, light, sculpt and texture terrain to create a variety of WoW landscapes and Points of Interest to a highly polished state
• Help develop and adhere to zone vertical slices and propagation methods for environment biomes and cultures
• Collaborate with partner disciplines to successfully support WoW gameplay and visual storytelling.
• Optimize performance of content to run on a wide variety of technical specifications

Requirements:

• 2+ years of professional experience or equivalent college training as a World Builder, Level Designer, or Environment Artist
• Keen artistic eye with a strong understanding of composition, lighting, mood, and color
• Basic knowledge of environmental design and its functions within a game
• Proficiency with game engines, 3D software, photoshop or proprietary terrain sculpting tools
• Ability to work creatively within a team environment
• Excellent communication, collaboration and interpersonal skills
• Self-motivated and a passion for learning

In the U.S., the standard base pay range for this role is $24.04 - $44.47 Hourly. These values reflect the expected base pay range of new hires across all U.S. locations. Ultimately, your specific range and offer will be based on several factors, including relevant experience, performance, and work location. In addition to a competitive base pay, employees in this role may be eligible for incentive compensation. Incentive compensation is not guaranteed.
