Role Overview

We are seeking a Senior Digital Operations Engineer with strong expertise in Azure cloud platforms, Databricks, SQL, DevOps practices, and Data Engineering. The role focuses on ensuring reliability, scalability, performance, and operational excellence of data platforms and digital systems. Experience with Qlik Replicate is a strong plus.


Key Responsibilities

Cloud & Platform Operations

Design, operate, and optimize Azure-based data and analytics platforms with high availability and performance.

Monitor, troubleshoot, and resolve production issues across cloud, data, and pipeline layers.

Ensure platform reliability through proactive monitoring, alerting, and incident management.


Data Engineering & Analytics

Support and maintain Databricks workloads for large-scale data processing and analytics.

Optimize SQL queries, data models, and performance tuning across relational and cloud data stores.

Collaborate with data engineers and analytics teams to ensure stable and efficient data pipelines.


DevOps & Automation

Implement and maintain CI/CD pipelines for data and cloud workloads using DevOps best practices.

Automate infrastructure provisioning using Infrastructure as Code (IaC) (ARM, Bicep, Terraform, or similar).

Drive operational efficiency through scripting and automation.


Data Integration & Replication

Support real-time and batch data replication pipelines.

Qlik Replicate experience is preferred for managing source-to-target data replication and troubleshooting data latency issues.


Security, Governance & Compliance

Implement cloud security best practices including identity, access management, and data protection.

Ensure adherence to organizational standards, SLAs, and compliance requirements.

Participate in audits, root cause analysis (RCA), and continuous improvement initiatives.


Collaboration & Leadership

Act as a senior technical point of contact for operations and support teams.

Mentor junior engineers and promote operational best practices.

Work closely with architects, developers, and business stakeholders.


Required Skills & Qualifications

Technical Skills

Strong experience with Microsoft Azure (Azure Data Factory, Azure SQL, ADLS, Azure Monitor, etc.)

Hands-on expertise with Databricks (jobs, clusters, performance tuning).

Advanced SQL skills for querying, optimization, and troubleshooting.

Solid DevOps experience (CI/CD, automation, monitoring, release management).

Strong understanding of data engineering concepts (ETL/ELT, batch & streaming pipelines).


Professional Skills

Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities.

Experience supporting production environments with on-call or operational responsibilities.

Excellent communication and documentation skills.


Good to Have / Preferred Skills

Qlik Replicate experience for data replication and CDC pipelines.

Experience with Python / Scala for data engineering or automation.

Knowledge of Power BI, Qlik, or other BI tools.

Exposure to SRE practices, ITIL, or operational frameworks.

Azure certifications (AZ-104, AZ-305, DP-203) are a plus.


Pay:

The wage range for this role takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to skill sets; experience and training; licensure and certifications; and other business and organizational needs. The disclosed range estimate has not been adjusted for the applicable geographic differential associated with the location at which the position may be filled. At Fractal, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current range is: $130,000 - $150,000. In addition, you may be eligible for a discretionary bonus for the current performance period.

As a full-time employee of the company or as an hourly employee working more than 30 hours per week, you will be eligible to participate in the health, dental, vision, life insurance, and disability plans in accordance with the plan documents, which may be amended from time to time. You will be eligible for benefits on the first day of employment with the Company. In addition, you are eligible to participate in the Company 401(k) Plan after 30 days of employment, in accordance with the applicable plan terms. The Company provides for 11 paid holidays and 12 weeks of Parental Leave. We also follow a “free time” PTO policy, allowing you the flexibility to take time needed for either sick time or vacation.
