The Mission Exploitation Operating Unit (MEXOU) is seeking a Staff Systems Engineer to support the MTC program as the Build IPT Deputy. The Build IPT receives concept designs and performs hardware and software integration with a team of highly skilled implementers and testers. As the IPT Deputy, you will be responsible for scope, cost, and schedule management. You will interface with customers, product leads, and program managers to deliver the product to multiple customers. This position is located in Aurora, CO.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Provide direct support to the Build IPT Lead, including task creation and tracking, removing blockers, and ensuring the team has all resources needed to perform its duties.
  • Evaluate and give feedback on system concept development across disciplines such as Systems Administration, Network Engineering, RF & Signals Engineering, Cyber Security Engineering, Integration, Test, and Deployment.
  • Review detailed design analyses from the Design IPT; may also involve test design.
  • Provide stakeholder feedback on Engineering Change Requests, Increment Planning Packages, and Discrepancy Review Boards as an IPT stakeholder for implementation.
  • Interpret requirements, diagrams, and Interface Control Documents (ICDs) to fully decompose work scope.
  • Determine task schedules and level of effort required to meet product and program goals.
  • Lead FAT and SAT events, ensuring all verification criteria are met and that Discrepancy Reports are captured when applicable.
  • Communicate technical capabilities and analyses to internal stakeholders and external customers.
  • Deliver weekly program status updates to the PMO, key stakeholders, and customer leadership.
  • Mentor and direct junior staff to meet program deadlines.
  • Support new project acquisition through Basis of Estimate development and proposal preparation.

Basic Qualifications

  • 12 years of relevant experience with a Bachelor of Science degree in a STEM discipline; or 10 years of relevant experience with a Master’s degree; or 8 years of relevant experience with a Ph.D.
  • Experience with Jira and Confluence.
  • Ability to communicate and present effectively to product and program management, technical managers, and customers.
  • Excellent technical writing and team building skills.
  • Working knowledge of systems engineering principles and processes.
  • Demonstrated ability to learn new concepts and approaches quickly.
  • Active DoD Top Secret clearance with SCI eligibility and willingness to submit to a polygraph.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Active TS/SCI clearance.
  • Experience with Agile development.
  • Familiarity with communications infrastructure, data center, and antenna design.
  • Familiarity with CAM and EVMS.

Primary Level Salary Range: $177,000.00 - $265,600.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
