Senior Azure Cyber Security Engineer (Protect & Prevent)

I’m working with a well known UK retailer who are looking to add a Senior Azure Cyber Security Engineer to their internal cyber security team.

This role sits within the Protect and Prevent pillar of the cyber function and focuses on strengthening preventative security controls across the organisation’s infrastructure, cloud and endpoint estate.

This role is focused on engineering preventative security controls, rather than working in a SOC or monitoring environment.

What you will be doing

Working closely with infrastructure and cyber leadership to design and implement security controls across a hybrid environment.

Key areas include

• Identity security and conditional access using Entra ID

• Endpoint protection and attack surface reduction

• Vulnerability management and remediation

• Security hardening across infrastructure and cloud platforms

• Implementing preventative security controls across Microsoft security technologies

• Supporting the deployment and optimisation of tools such as Microsoft Defender and Microsoft Sentinel

What they are looking for

Experience working in a hands on cyber security engineering role

Strong experience with preventative security controls such as endpoint protection, identity security, vulnerability management or infrastructure hardening

Experience working with Azure security and Microsoft security technologies such as Defender, Sentinel, Entra ID or Intune

Experience securing hybrid infrastructure environments

Someone who enjoys improving how systems are secured and working closely with infrastructure teams.

The organisation operates a hybrid infrastructure environment with a strong Microsoft security stack and is continuing to invest heavily in strengthening its cyber security capabilities.

The team is collaborative, technically focused and prioritises practical security engineering over governance.

Location

Fully remote within the UK.

Salary £85,000 – £100,000 depending on experience.
