CSI Companies is seeking an experienced Sr. General Engineer (Facilities/Infrastructure) to support our healthcare client within the government sector.
This role is responsible for engineering development, design planning, construction oversight, and project administration for healthcare facility projects.
The ideal candidate will have strong knowledge of engineering principles, healthcare facility design, building codes, and construction management, with the ability to collaborate with contractors, architects, and leadership to ensure project success.
Hours: Monday–Friday standard business hours | 40 hours/week
Location: Onsite – Long Beach, CA
Pay: Starting at $62/hr. - competitive market rate based on relevant experience, education, and credentials
Position Type: Multi-year Contract – No C2C
Work Authorization:
Visas are acceptable (any EAD). Candidates must be eligible to work on W2 and must not require sponsorship for at least 6–12 months.

What you’ll do:
- Plan, develop, and design engineering solutions by conducting site reconnaissance, surveys, and investigations to establish baseline data and develop specifications, estimates, and project plans.
- Evaluate engineering design objectives, perform complex technical calculations, and identify cost-effective project design approaches while balancing management requirements and engineering standards.
- Provide professional engineering guidance and technical review of plans, specifications, and analyses submitted by engineers, contractors, and architectural/engineering (AE) firms.
- Manage construction and maintenance projects including scheduling, inspections, material review, cost estimation, and coordination with contractors to resolve complex construction issues.
- Develop in-house designs and oversee AE design management, ensuring compliance with building codes, safety standards, and design and construction requirements.
- Prepare technical reports, correspondence, cost estimates, project schedules, and documentation required to support project development and contract performance.
- Monitor environmental safety and regulatory compliance including OSHA requirements, hazardous materials procedures, fire protection, emergency preparedness, and environmental protection initiatives.
- Review contractor shop drawings, material certifications, and construction submittals to ensure adherence to contract specifications and performance standards.
- Support infection control, safety practices, and secure handling of sensitive information in compliance with federal regulations and the Privacy Act.
What we’re looking for:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Construction Management required
- Minimum 5 years of experience as a General Engineer or in a related engineering role
- Knowledge of healthcare facility design, building codes, fire codes, barrier-free codes, safety standards, and maintenance concepts
- Ability to review and interpret construction drawings, engineering specifications, and technical documentation
- Experience preparing cost estimates, technical reports, and engineering project documentation
- Strong communication skills with the ability to work with contractors, vendors, leadership, and healthcare staff
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Access, Outlook)
