Job Title: Sr. Network Engineer

Location: 100% Remote

Duration: 1+ Year Contract

Description:

As a Sr. Network Engineer, you will be a member of a growing team of multi-disciplinary professionals deploying Next-Generation 911 (NG911) solutions across the country. This position entails support of the infrastructure for several NG9-1-1 customers.

Core Skills:

  • Hands-on experience with Palo Alto, Cisco, Juniper devices, and SD-WAN technologies in enterprise environments.
  • Strong background in routing and switching troubleshooting, including establishing and validating IP connectivity across complex networks.
  • Supported and troubleshot servers, routers, switches, firewalls, and load balancers to ensure high availability and performance.
  • Worked extensively with MPLS circuits, F5 Load Balancers, and SD-WAN solutions for enterprise network connectivity.
  • Involved in network design, deployment, and optimization, improving reliability, performance, and operational efficiency.
  • Provided support for firewalls and secure network architectures across multi-site environments.
  • Participated in a rotating 24/7 on-call support model, handling critical escalations from the Network Operations Center (NOC).

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • The Sr. Network Engineer will have hands on responsibility for our development and production networking environments, performing installation, configuration, troubleshooting and operational support of all network components with limited supervision, all devices including security appliances and devices (Juniper, Cisco, F5, Palo Alto)
  • This position is part of the team that resolves operational issues, performs upgrades, ensures the required availability of network communication for the NG9-1-1 customers across the United States. This person will be responsible of contributing to development efforts to support multiple systems that are under the core responsibility of the NG9-1-1 team.
  • Define an implementation plan for new technologies.
  • Participate on an on-call rotation for the Network Engineering team.
  • Analyze the current state of the solutions to propose innovations.
  • Analyze, design, and implement new/improved operational capabilities across the network.
  • Identify optimization opportunities and work in collaboration with the team.

Skills/Qualifications/Competencies:

  • Bachelor s degree in computer science, Information Technology or discipline related to functional work or role with 5+ years of relevant work experience
  • Implementation, operation, and support of infrastructure including Cisco routers, switches, Palo Alto Firewalls, Juniper routers and firewalls, F5 or Fortinet load balancers
  • Knowledge of Cloud computing such as Amazon Web Services (AWS)
  • Learned and applied experience with network operating systems, network hardware - routers, switches, and firewalls, detailed network design and documentation
  • Able to consistently contribute effort, and creative thinking to solving complex and significant problems in a collaborative fashion
  • Deep understanding of BGP routing within the context of carrier connectivity as well as internal systems connectivity along with redistribution techniques into and from other routing technologies like OSPF
  • Deep understanding of firewall technologies such as Juniper and Palo Alto (including Panorama)
  • Understanding of SDWAN
  • Able to communicate complex concepts, problems, and solutions clearly and effectively to all levels within the organization
  • Demonstrated ability to perform at the highest level of proficiency in utilizing tools and applications to complete assignments
  • Preferred a CCNA, CCNP, CCIE and or other network certifications and designations.
  • Preferred AWS practitioner certification
  • Strong experience in Juniper routers/switches/firewalls
  • Experience with F5 Load Balancers
