Software Engineer – Reliability & Platform (NYC)

Location: New York City | Relocation support available

Salary: $170k-$220k + Equity

I’m currently recruiting on behalf of my client, a fast-growing AI-powered investing platform with 2.5M+ downloads that has recently raised Series A funding.

They are looking for a Software Engineer focused on Reliability & Platform to join a small, high-impact engineering team and help scale the technical foundation of the product.

This is a deeply technical, cross-stack role where you will work directly with the Head of Engineering and have real architectural influence across infrastructure, reliability, and platform performance.

The Role

As a Software Engineer – Reliability & Platform, you will help own the platform’s core technical foundation including infrastructure, scalability, observability, and system reliability.

You will investigate complex production issues, optimize systems across iOS, backend services, databases, and AWS infrastructure, and partner closely with engineering and product teams to drive platform-level improvements.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead investigations into complex production issues across iOS, backend services, and cloud infrastructure
• Perform root-cause analysis across APIs, async workflows, data models, and third-party integrations
• Improve backend service reliability and performance in Node.js + TypeScript
• Optimize MongoDB queries, indexes, and data access patterns
• Strengthen AWS infrastructure stability and deployment workflows
• Improve observability through structured logging, metrics, and monitoring
• Reduce recurring bug classes through improved validation layers and error handling
• Strengthen CI/CD pipelines and release processes
• Build internal tools that improve debugging efficiency and engineering productivity
• Partner with product and engineering teams to drive platform-level improvements

Requirements

• 1–5+ years of engineering experience, ideally within startup environments (Will look at fresh grads if you have strong internships)
• Strong production debugging skills across multiple layers of the stack
• Experience building backend services in Node.js + TypeScript
• Strong understanding of MongoDB performance and data modeling
• Experience operating systems in AWS environments
• Comfortable navigating and contributing to Swift / SwiftUI codebases
• Strong understanding of APIs, async workflows, and distributed systems
• High ownership and ability to execute in fast-moving environments
• Based in or willing to relocate to New York City

Nice to Have

• Fintech or payments experience
