Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled Senior Software Engineer (AWS DevOps Engineer) to join App Services for -CAT IT Division
The preference for this role is to be based out of Bangalore – Caterpillar PSN
What You Will Do
- Experience in designing, automating, and maintaining AWS cloud infrastructure for highly available and scalable Java-based microservices and frontend applications hosted on S3/CloudFront.
- Develop and maintain Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using CloudFormation following modular, reusable, secure, and version-controlled patterns.
- Build and manage CI/CD pipelines for Java microservices (Maven/Gradle) and frontend builds using GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps.
- Enable secure and cost‑efficient deployment workflows including blue/green, rolling, and canary deployments for microservices and frontend applications.
- Implement and enforce security directives across the application lifecycle - vulnerability remediation, dependency scanning, IAM least privilege, encryption, and secure networking.
- Manage container-based workloads using Docker, ECS, EKS, or AWS Fargate including autoscaling, load balancing, observability, and secret/config management (SSM Parameters, Secrets Manager).
- Operate and optimize API Gateway, Lambda, ALB/NLB, S3, CloudFront, Route 53, RDS, DynamoDB, ElastiCache, and CloudWatch.
- Maintain high standards of infrastructure quality by establishing cloud best practices, architectural guidelines, and automation-first strategies.
- Work independently on complex cloud infrastructure components and contribute to platform architecture improvements.
- Collaborate with development, architecture, security, and QA teams to support continuous integration, testing, deployment, and release management.
- Implement end-to-end monitoring, logging, distributed tracing, dashboards, alerts, and SLA/SLO-based observability practices.
- Troubleshoot production issues, lead root-cause analysis, and participate in off-shift/weekend support rotations as needed.
- Maintain governance over cloud resources, cost optimization, tagging, compliance, and operational excellence.
- More than 8 years of DevOps experience, with strong expertise in deploying and managing Java microservices on AWS.
- Hands-on experience with AWS services such as EC2, ECS, EKS, Lambda, API Gateway, S3, CloudFront, Route 53, RDS, DynamoDB, CloudWatch, IAM, KMS.
- Strong experience with Infrastructure as Code (AWS Cloudformation preferred) and configuration management tools.
- Good understanding of deployment strategies including blue/green, rolling updates, and canary deployments.
- Experience in developing and maintaining CI/CD pipelines with automated testing, quality gates, and security scanning.
- Experience hosting frontend applications (React/Angular) on S3 + CloudFront with best practices such as OAC, caching, invalidations, SSL certificates, and SPA routing.
- Strong understanding of containerization and orchestration using Docker, ECS, EKS, Fargate.
- Experience with logging and monitoring tools - CloudWatch, OpenTelemetry, Prometheus, Grafana, ELK/Loki.
- Familiarity with networking concepts related to cloud: VPC, subnets, DNS, TLS/SSL, load balancing, WAF.
- Strong knowledge of DevSecOps, vulnerability remediation, and secure cloud deployment practices.
- Strong Git proficiency and experience with repositories such as GitHub, GitLab, or Azure Repos.
- Hands-on experience with scripting languages like Bash or Python for automation.
- Experience using AI tools like Microsoft Copilot for software development and testing. Understanding and experience in using AI/GenAI for automation.
- This position requires candidate to work a 5-day -a -week schedule in the Hosur Facility

- AWS Certified Solutions Architect Associate certification is a plus.
- Experience using the Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) methodology.
- Experience with advanced CI/CD tooling such as ArgoCD, GitHub Actions, and progressive delivery (canary/traffic splitting).
- Experience working with corporate security on cloud infrastructure security compliance and remediation activities (SCB, risk acceptance, audits).

- Experience implementing SonarQube, CodeQL, Fortify, or similar security and code quality tools in CI/CD.
