Lead Data Modeler / Data Architect

Contract: 12 months (subject to extension).

Location: Amsterdam, Netherlands.

Your Profile & DNA:

We are looking for an experienced Lead Data Modeler / Data Architect to drive enterprise data modeling standards and support the development of scalable data products on Google Cloud Platform.

In this role, you will lead conceptual, logical, and physical data modeling initiatives while collaborating with domain teams, data owners, and governance councils in a modern data mesh environment.

Roles & Responsibilities

• Lead conceptual, logical, and physical data modeling across multiple domains

• Establish modeling conventions, naming standards, and versioning practices
• Define domain boundaries, core entities, and master/reference data structures
• Identify authoritative systems for each subject area
• Produce model-to-contract mappings for data products, APIs, and ODS tables
• Work closely with Data Owners and Data Stewards to secure approvals on definitions, rules, and change control
• Contribute to governance forums and ensure glossary completeness and lineage capture using Google Cloud Dataplex and Google Cloud Data Catalog

Qualification & Experience

• A Bachelor's or Master's Degree or equivalent.
• 3–6+ years of hands-on data modeling experience

• Strong knowledge of Entity–Relationship Modeling and Dimensional Modeling
• Experience designing production-grade physical data models on cloud platforms (GCP preferred)
• Ability to align multiple domain viewpoints into a consistent canonical data model
• Experience collaborating with Data Owners, Data Stewards, Data Quality leads, and governance councils
• Comfortable working in a Data Mesh environment
• Designing physical data models for Google BigQuery
• Working with metadata and lineage conventions in Dataplex / Data Catalog
• Experience with enterprise modeling tools such as Sparx Enterprise Architect
