As we continue to expand our global hosting platform, we are looking for an experienced Head of Shared Hosting to lead the development, optimization, and scalability of our shared hosting infrastructure and platform operations.
This role will oversee the technical architecture, operational reliability, performance optimization, and strategic growth of our shared hosting services.
Role Overview
The Head of Shared Hosting will be responsible for managing and scaling Ultahost’s shared hosting platform infrastructure, ensuring high availability, security, and performance across our global hosting environment.
This role requires deep experience in Linux-based hosting environments, control panel ecosystems, infrastructure automation, and large-scale shared hosting operations.
You will collaborate closely with infrastructure, DevOps, support, and product teams to continuously improve our shared hosting platform and customer experience.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the strategy, architecture, and operations of Ultahost’s shared hosting platform
- Manage and optimize large-scale Linux shared hosting environments
- Oversee infrastructure built around cPanel, Plesk, DirectAdmin, or similar control panels
- Ensure high availability, uptime, and performance of shared hosting servers
- Design and implement scalable hosting architecture across multiple data centers
- Optimize server resource utilization including CPU, RAM, storage, and network performance
- Work with DevOps and infrastructure teams to improve automation, provisioning, and deployment workflows
- Establish security standards and best practices for shared hosting environments
- Monitor infrastructure performance and ensure proactive incident management
- Manage vendor relationships related to hosting software licenses and infrastructure tools
- Build and mentor a team responsible for shared hosting platform operations
- Collaborate with product and support teams to improve customer experience and platform reliability

- 5+ years of experience in web hosting, cloud infrastructure, or large-scale hosting environments
- 2+ years of leadership or team management experience in infrastructure, hosting operations, or platform engineering
- Strong expertise in Linux server administration (AlmaLinux, CentOS, Ubuntu, Debian) within production hosting environments
- Deep understanding of shared hosting architecture and multi-tenant hosting environments
- Hands-on experience with hosting control panels such as cPanel/WHM, Plesk, or DirectAdmin
- Strong knowledge of web server technologies including Apache, Nginx, LiteSpeed, or OpenLiteSpeed
- Experience managing large-scale shared hosting platforms serving thousands of websites or customers
- Solid understanding of virtualization technologies such as KVM, Proxmox, or VMware, and experience working with virtualized infrastructure clusters
- Familiarity with container technologies (e.g., Docker) and modern infrastructure environments is a plus
- Experience with database systems such as MySQL / MariaDB including performance optimization in hosting environments
- Strong understanding of server security practices, firewall management, and hosting environment hardening
- Experience with infrastructure monitoring, alerting systems, and performance analysis tools
- Good understanding of networking fundamentals including IP management, DNS, routing, load balancing, and traffic optimization
- Experience designing or managing high availability and scalable hosting infrastructure
- Strong communication, leadership, and cross-team collaboration skills
- Professional working proficiency in English
