It has user authentication, an activity feed, upvotes, commenting, followers, lists, account management, live updates, a fully loaded database, API connectivity, and more.

About The Mobile Team

Bubble focuses on building web applications, and our top request from users is to support native iOS and Android apps. We have a small team working on this, and the mobile product is currently in early alpha. We're seeking a mobile leader to guide the project from its early stages to a fully developed product. This involves expanding our web editor to include mobile app creation, setting up infrastructure for deploying apps to the iOS and Google Play stores, and developing a React Native runtime that works with Bubble’s backend. This is a key initiative for 2025, opening up a new market that will significantly impact our business. We need an engineering manager who can turn this vision into reality while developing a strong team.

About The Role

Bubble’s most requested feature is expanding to native iOS and Android apps. We have a small team actively working on this, with the private alpha now underway. We’re seeking a mobile leader to guide the team, overseeing the process from alpha through to a fully mature product. Key responsibilities include extending the Bubble web-based editor for mobile app creation, building infrastructure for deploying apps to iOS and Google Play, and creating a React Native runtime for Bubble's existing backend. This role is central to one of Bubble’s most critical product investments in 2024 and 2025, addressing a new market with significant business impact.

As Our Engineering Manager, You Will Focus On

• Speed and quality of delivery - Work with Product and Design for a successful launch and establish a multi-year roadmap for a robust offering.
• Career development and hiring - Lead a diverse team of 5 engineers, guiding their growth and setting the team up for long-term success. You’ll be expected to hire up to 4 more great engineers to join the team soon after your start.
• Cultural development - Foster an engineering culture of shared success, equity, and continuous learning.
• Problem-solving - Tackle technical challenges in building an editor and runtime for mobile app development, mentoring to elevate the team's skills.

• Production support - Develop standards, testing, observability, and an on-call rotation for the mobile infrastructure.
• Strategic collaboration - Align the mobile team with other product teams, working closely with product managers, engineering managers, and senior engineers.
• Technical innovation - Improve the speed and ease of developing native mobile applications, possibly integrating generative AI into the design process.
  
  

About You

• Ideally, a current staff/principal engineer, tech lead, engineering manager, or senior engineering manager.
• At least 2 years of experience in people management or mentorship.
• A deeply technical leader comfortable with a diversity of tech stacks.

Compensation

We offer competitive compensation aligned to tier one markets, such as New York City, San Francisco, and Seattle. Our estimated salary for this role at Bubble ranges from $174,000 to $236,000. Actual pay is determined by multiple factors such as skills, qualifications, experience and market demand.

Location:

For this role, Bubble is currently only considering candidates who are authorized to work in the US and are within the New York City metro area. We will provide relocation assistance to those who are interested in moving to the NYC area.
