Client Engagement Details
Our client is a leading provider of high-end analytical and strategic support for investment firms, boutique consulting firms, banks and corporate business development teams primarily across the Middle East and Europe.
The end client is a research non-profit company with the mission to improve the lives of the world’s poor.
The interim IT director is not precluded from being selected for the permanent Director role.
With a core team of 6 staff, supported by external consulting firms, the IT function at our offices serves approximately 450 permanent staff. While WE operates through 20 country offices, staff are also based in and operate from a broader range of countries worldwide. The IT team therefore supports a highly distributed workforce with varying connectivity contexts. End-user computing is largely standardized with centralized identity and access management. We operate a predominantly SaaS-based technology environment, complemented by a limited number of cloud-hosted servers and virtual machines in Microsoft Azure (including Azure SQL, Azure Functions, and Ubuntu VMs) supporting custom applications, ETL processes, and automation.
- Availability: The engagement is for 10 hrs/week during a 3-month period to start.
What’s in it for you?
- Learn and evolve your skills using the latest and greatest technology tools in a rapidly growing company.
- Learn from the best people around you. We constantly challenge the status quo and invent new ways of building a great product.
- 100% remote. Work anywhere, whether it is remotely in the comfort of your home, in a shared co-working space, in an RV on the beach, or while being a nomad in another country.
- Work on challenging problems, innovate, and positively impact many people's lives while having fun doing it.
Required Qualifications
- Upper-intermediate to fluent speaking and writing English. Able to have a real-time conversation.
- 5+ years of full-time hands-on IT Leadership/CTO experience.
- 5+ years of full-time hands-on data architecture/ETL (PHP, Azure, Python) experience.
- Must be comfortable overseeing data-intensive systems (cloud, ETL, integrations).
- Strategic judgment over hands-on coding.
- Experience acting as a senior escalation and decision authority for complex technical or operational incidents, including evaluating trade-offs and directing resolution by appropriate technical owners.
- Experience supporting mission-critical systems, where downtime or data issues have material operational impact.
- Experience overseeing or supporting information security and IT audit processes, including familiarity with common audit requirements, control frameworks, or third-party assurance expectations (e.g. SOC reports, internal or external IT audits).
- Experience coordinating delivery across internal teams and external service providers, with clear accountability for outcomes, timelines, and issue resolution.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate technical risks and decisions to non-technical stakeholders and senior leadership, including during incidents or high-pressure situations.
- Availability to engage immediately and provide focused, short-term leadership and oversight during a transition period.
