Job Title: Senior Project Manager

Contract Length: 6+ Month contract

On Site Work

Location: Baton Rouge, LA 70809

Pay: 45 an hr on W2


This individual contributor position coordinates personnel and resources (including contractors and vendor partners) required to successfully complete a series of complex and highly visible projects. The Senior Project Manager ensures delivery of quality business outcomes including project deliverables, new or improved processes, and services.

The role manages projects of high complexity in a regulated industry environment and is responsible for ensuring execution of key project delivery steps, including requirements elicitation, dependency mapping, milestone projections, task planning, and defining metrics that determine project success. The position regularly monitors project progress to ensure alignment with projected timelines and costs while applying established industry frameworks and methodologies. The role is accountable for complying with all applicable laws and regulations related to responsibilities.

Nature and Scope

  • This role does not manage people.
  • Reports to: Director, Project Execution

Internal Relationships

  • Interfaces directly with senior management, business owners, and project team members to negotiate and define requirements.
  • Negotiates and defines planning and policy requirements while presenting options and processing capabilities to senior leadership.
  • Provides guidance and direction to departments placing requirements on systems.
  • Responsible for highly complex cross-divisional projects impacting multiple departments and organizational areas.
  • Interfaces frequently with IT, PMO, and business leaders while exercising diplomacy and tact in discussions on complex or controversial topics.

External Relationships

  • Maintains regular contact with client management to exchange information and present information systems concepts.
  • Maintains contact with user groups and organizations with similar operational challenges.
  • Attends external technical meetings and presents information when required.

Qualifications

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Project Management, Computer Science, or related field required.
  • Completion of an approved educational program or four years of related experience may be accepted in lieu of a degree.

Work Experience

  • Minimum 4 years of experience planning and implementing projects including developing scope, goals, work plans, timelines, implementation strategies, and measurement processes for assessing progress and outcomes.
  • The 4 years must include at least 3 years of senior-level project planning and implementation experience with responsibility for scope development, work planning, timeline management, implementation strategies, and outcome measurement.

Skills and Abilities

  • Strong competency with PMBOK methodologies and frameworks including project management, software development lifecycle (SDLC), and ITIL. Six Sigma and organizational development practices are a plus.
  • Advanced knowledge of computer science concepts, including hardware, software systems, systems analysis, programming, development and maintenance processes, and data management for large complex systems.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills with the ability to create and deliver presentations to senior organizational leadership.
  • Demonstrated ability to independently manage project teams with minimal oversight.
  • Ability to facilitate presentations and discussions with stakeholders and executive management.
  • Experience interpreting complex material and communicating it clearly for broad audiences.
  • Proven ability to analyze business processes, gather requirements, and generate business, functional, and technical specifications required for project delivery.

Analytical and Creative Problem Solving

  • Experience identifying, defining, quantifying, and resolving complex or highly technical project-related issues.
  • Demonstrated ability to use innovative approaches to resolve challenges despite limited timelines or incomplete requirement definitions.
  • Ability to correlate requirements from multiple sources, anticipate future processing and information needs, analyze potential impacts, and develop technical solutions.

Certifications

  • PMI certification preferred

  • Manage technical challenges related to applications and new product development.
  • Identify, communicate, and manage risks to project stakeholders and senior leadership.
  • Identify scope changes and implement risk mitigation strategies.
  • Deliver work products that support departmental goals and objectives.
