Key Responsibilities

Oversee job evaluation, leveling, and internal equity across office-based, remote, and globally mobile roles
Partner with HR leadership to align compensation programs with performance and goal-setting frameworks
Contribute to the design and evolution of recognition programs that drive engagement and retention
Oversee benefits, paid time off, retirement, and wellness programs to ensure competitiveness, inclusivity, and market relevance
Lead the administration and governance of long-term equity-based compensation programs
Oversee grant cycles, vesting events, share transactions, and equity platform administration
Partner with Payroll, Finance, Legal, and external advisors to ensure accurate reporting, taxation, and compliance
Support executive compensation disclosure, including Compensation Committee materials and public filings
Lead internal pay equity reviews across regions and prepare findings and recommendations
Prepare statutory pay transparency and regulatory reports, as required
Ensure compliance with all applicable compensation legislation across jurisdictions
Develop dashboards, reports, and analytics to support senior leadership decision-making
Stay current on market trends, legislative changes, and emerging best practices in total rewards
Identify opportunities for process improvement, cost optimization, and system enhancements
Manage relationships with external compensation consultants and advisors

Job Description


Please note - This role requires relocation to Vancouver and has an expectation of being in the office 4 days a week. A full relocation package will be offered along with a base salary of 140-170 K with some flexibility plus bonus plus equity and RSSP.


Humans of HR is partnering with a large, global, publicly listed organization headquartered in Vancouver to recruit a Manager & Head of Total Rewards for a newly created role. This organization operates across multiple regions worldwide and is known for its strong governance, people-first culture, and commitment to building scalable, market-leading HR programs.


This is an exciting opportunity to build and evolve a comprehensive total rewards function at the enterprise level, working closely with senior leadership during a period of continued growth and transformation.


The Opportunity:


Reporting directly to the Head of Human Resources, the Head of Total Rewards will be responsible for the strategy, design, governance, and execution of the organization’s global total rewards programs. This role will oversee compensation, equity, benefits, recognition, and pay equity initiatives across multiple jurisdictions, ensuring programs are competitive, compliant, financially sound, and aligned with business objectives.


As a newly created role, this position offers the opportunity to shape the total rewards philosophy from the ground up, introduce best-in-class practices, and serve as a trusted advisor to senior leaders and the Compensation Committee.


What You’ll Be Doing:


Total Rewards Strategy & Governance

  • Define, evolve, and maintain the organization’s global total rewards philosophy, strategy, and guiding principles
  • Develop policies, frameworks, cost models, and budgets to support sustainable and competitive rewards programs
  • Ensure all programs align with business strategy, financial objectives, and governance standards


Compensation & Job Architecture

  • Design, implement, and maintain corporate compensation structures, salary bands, and job architecture frameworks
  • Oversee job evaluation, leveling, and internal equity across office-based, remote, and globally mobile roles
  • Ensure alignment between job architecture, job descriptions, job evaluations, and employment terms
  • Lead compensation benchmarking, analysis, and recommendations across the employee lifecycle


Performance, Recognition & Benefits

  • Partner with HR leadership to align compensation programs with performance and goal-setting frameworks
  • Contribute to the design and evolution of recognition programs that drive engagement and retention
  • Oversee benefits, paid time off, retirement, and wellness programs to ensure competitiveness, inclusivity, and market relevance


Equity & Executive Compensation

  • Lead the administration and governance of long-term equity-based compensation programs
  • Oversee grant cycles, vesting events, share transactions, and equity platform administration
  • Partner with Payroll, Finance, Legal, and external advisors to ensure accurate reporting, taxation, and compliance
  • Support executive compensation disclosure, including Compensation Committee materials and public filings


Pay Equity, Compliance & Reporting

  • Lead internal pay equity reviews across regions and prepare findings and recommendations
  • Prepare statutory pay transparency and regulatory reports, as required
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable compensation legislation across jurisdictions
  • Develop dashboards, reports, and analytics to support senior leadership decision-making


Continuous Improvement & Market Insight

  • Stay current on market trends, legislative changes, and emerging best practices in total rewards
  • Identify opportunities for process improvement, cost optimization, and system enhancements
  • Manage relationships with external compensation consultants and advisors



Required Qualifications:


  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business, Finance, or a related field
  • Professional certification in compensation or total rewards (e.g., CCP or equivalent) preferred
  • 5+ years of progressive experience in total rewards or compensation leadership within a publicly traded, global organization with demonstrated experience managing comprehensive total rewards programs, including executive compensation and equity-based compensation plans
  • Hands-on experience administering and managing equity programs and Long-Term Incentive Plans (LTIP), including partnership with LTIP management systems (e.g., Shareworks), overseeing system set-up, data maintenance, transactions, and reporting
  • Experience supporting or delivering Board-level compensation materials and analysis
  • Proven experience drafting or preparing compensation-related disclosures, including content for the annual Management Information Circular (or equivalent public disclosure documents)
  • Strong knowledge of accounting and regulatory reporting requirements related to equity-based compensation within a publicly listed environment
  • Advanced analytical capability with strong Excel skills and the ability to interpret and model complex compensation data
  • Exceptional communication and presentation skills, with the ability to translate complex compensation data into clear, executive-ready insights
  • Experience working across multiple jurisdictions and with culturally diverse teams in a global organization
  • High level of discretion, attention to detail, and professionalism when handling confidential and sensitive compensation information
