About the Role
We are looking for a Shopify Subject Matter Expert (SME) with strong catalog management experience to oversee large-scale product data operations, ensure data accuracy, and continuously improve catalog workflows.
This role combines hands-on catalog execution (50%) with process improvement and QA leadership (50%). The ideal candidate thrives in managing large product catalogs and optimizing workflows in a fast-paced eCommerce environment.
Key Responsibilities
Catalog Management & Operations (50%)
- Manage large-scale product catalogs in Shopify (50k–60k SKUs).
- Perform product uploads, updates, variant management, and bulk edits using:
Shopify Admin
Matrixify
Shopify bulk editors
- Maintain data integrity across titles, tags, variants, pricing, metafields, and collections.
- Assign brands and manage product categorization at scale.
- Troubleshoot catalog display issues and coordinate with developers/vendors.
- Conduct pre- and post-launch QA validation across product pages and collections.
Process Improvement & Workflow Optimization (50%)
- Identify inefficiencies in catalog workflows and propose automation improvements.
- Standardize naming conventions, metadata structures, and QA processes.
- Build and improve SOPs, documentation, and onboarding workflows.
- Collaborate with Product Manager and stakeholders to enhance catalog tools and integrations.
- Develop reports to identify recurring catalog issues and improvement opportunities.

SME Leadership & Collaboration
- Serve as the Shopify catalog expert for internal teams.
- Train and mentor team members on best practices and QA standards.
- Support vendor onboarding and ensure product data accuracy.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with product, engineering, merchandising, and vendor teams.
Required Qualifications
Experience
- 3+ years of hands-on Shopify experience in catalog management or product operations.
- Experience managing large catalogs (5k–10k SKUs minimum, ideally scaling to 50k+).
- Proven expertise in:
Shopify Admin
Matrixify
Bulk editing tools
Shopify apps ecosystem
Technical Skills
- Advanced Excel / Google Sheets (VLOOKUP, pivot tables, complex formulas, automation).
- Strong understanding of product data structures and catalog taxonomy.
- Familiarity with Shopify apps and integrations.
