In this role, you will lead the HRIS function for a rapidly growing, fully remote organization, serving as the strategic owner of Workday and associated HR technology systems. You will oversee system governance, configuration, reporting, and process optimization, ensuring alignment with the company’s evolving organizational structure and business needs. This role balances hands-on system administration with team leadership, mentoring analysts, managing external consultants, and collaborating cross-functionally with Legal, IT, and People Operations teams. Success in this position requires strong analytical skills, a deep understanding of Workday capabilities, and the ability to implement scalable solutions across a global workforce. You will play a critical role in enabling data-driven decision-making, maintaining compliance, and supporting organizational growth in a fast-paced, innovative environment.

Accountabilities

  • Serve as the strategic owner of Workday and other HR systems, managing configuration, modules (compensation, benefits, absence, time tracking, reporting & analytics), and system governance.
  • Establish and enforce change management, release management, and HRIS best practices across the organization.
  • Oversee HR policies in the system, including leave management, pay rules, and time-tracking procedures.
  • Design and deliver reports, dashboards, and workflows to support data-driven decision-making.
  • Maintain system alignment with organizational changes, including department additions and structural updates.
  • Implement robust controls to ensure data integrity, confidentiality, and compliance with internal and external standards.
  • Manage, mentor, and develop HRIS team members and external consultants, providing guidance, setting priorities, and reviewing deliverables.
  • Partner with Legal, IT, and Security teams on audits, risk assessments, and system controls to ensure compliance and security.
  • Translate business requirements into system solutions and process improvements, delivering training and guidance to system users.

Requirements

  • 6+ years of hands-on experience with Workday across multiple modules, including compensation, benefits, time tracking, and reporting.
  • Proven ability to operate in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with competing priorities.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and technical skills, including creating and leveraging Workday reports, dashboards, and workflows.
  • Demonstrated experience managing HRIS teams or projects, mentoring staff, and collaborating cross-functionally.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and ability to manage multiple initiatives simultaneously to meet deadlines.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, particularly in complex or high-stakes situations.
  • Experience designing scalable processes for global collaboration and organizational growth.
  • Strong understanding of HR compliance, labor laws, data privacy regulations, and internal audit requirements.

Benefits

  • Fully remote work environment with flexibility across the U.S.
  • Competitive base salary: $150,000–$180,000, plus bonus and equity opportunities.
  • Generous paid time off, including vacation, sick leave, and company holidays.
  • 12 weeks of paid parental leave.
  • Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision coverage.
  • 401(k) plan with company contribution.
  • Life and disability insurance plans.
  • Stock options for full-time employees.
  • Home office setup reimbursement and professional development allowances.
  • Access to digital wellness and coaching platforms for personal and professional growth.
