About The Job
We are seeking a highly motivated Battery Test Engineer to join our rapidly growing team in Costa Mesa, Ca and take ownership of our battery test lab. In this role, you will execute critical tests on a variety of battery cells and packs and also manage the lab's operational rhythm. You will manage test campaigns, develop test procedures, sequences, and data processing. You will operate and troubleshoot battery cyclers and thermal chambers, analyze test data, and collaborate closely with systems engineers to drive product improvements, all while maintaining high safety standards.
What You’ll Do
- Own the entire battery test lifecycle, from planning and instrumentation through to data acquisition, analysis, and reporting.
- Serve as the primary manager for the battery test lab, overseeing the operational schedule, resource allocation, and equipment utilization to maximize throughput.
- Champion all safety protocols within the battery lab, ensuring a secure environment for all personnel and equipment.
- Collaborate with battery systems and program leads to define test requirements, align on schedules, and deliver clear, actionable results that directly influence design decisions.
- Ensure the operational readiness of the lab by managing equipment maintenance, calibration schedules, and inventory of necessary instrumentation and consumables.

- BS or MS in mechanical engineering, or related disciplines.
- 5+ years of hands-on hardware test environment, with at least 3+ years focused specifically on battery systems.
- Demonstrated hands-on experience executing a variety of battery performance and lifecycle tests (e.g. HPPC, cycle life, calendar life)
- Must be a U.S. Person due to required access to U.S. export controlled information or facilities
- Proficiency in a data analysis language such as Python or MATLAB for scripting and data processing.
- Experience with Arbin, Maccor, or other common battery cycler hardware and software.
- Experience with 3D modeling software and PLM (Siemens NX, Teamcenter, etc.)
- Familiarity with CAN communication tools (e.g., PCAN, Vector CANalyzer)
