Job Description

Job Title: Computer Vision Engineer

We are seeking a hands-on Machine Vision & Edge AI Engineer to design, deploy, and sustain production-grade computer vision systems across high-volume manufacturing lines.

What You’ll Be Doing

Model Development & Training Acceleration

  • Design and implement computer vision models for defect detection, segmentation, and classification
  • Accelerate model training using synthetic data, active learning, and domain randomization
  • Improve coverage of rare defects and specification variance
  • Develop robust augmentation pipelines to reduce training time and increase generalization

Production Deployment

  • Containerize models and services using Docker
  • Manage deployments with Kubernetes or equivalent orchestration tools
  • Implement version control, rollback strategies, and observability
  • Monitor latency, drift, false positives/negatives, and inspection performance metrics

Edge Optimization

  • Optimize inference for edge and embedded systems (e.g., NVIDIA Jetson, Intel accelerators)
  • Meet strict real-time latency requirements for moving-line inspection
  • Ensure stability under varying lighting, optics, and surface conditions

Manufacturing Systems Integration

  • Integrate vision systems with PLCs, encoders, and industrial triggers
  • Utilize industrial protocols such as OPC-UA, MQTT, REST
  • Align deployments with plant-level architecture standards (ICS+, GALC, TVIP)
  • Ensure secure, reliable connectivity in industrial environments

Data Strategy & Quality Control

  • Lead data collection campaigns and annotation workflows
  • Establish quality gates for model validation
  • Manage full ML lifecycle: rollout, monitoring, retraining
  • Conduct root cause analysis for inspection failures

Reliability & Sustainment

  • Maintain uptime and availability targets
  • Implement drift detection and false-out risk audits
  • Support calibration and measurement system analysis (MSA)
  • Develop backup and recovery procedures

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science, IT, or related field
  • 5+ years of experience in industrial machine vision and edge AI deployment
  • Strong proficiency in Python and C++
  • Experience with PyTorch, TensorFlow
  • Hands-on experience with Docker & Kubernetes
  • Familiarity with ONNX Runtime, TensorRT, and embedded optimization
  • Experience integrating vision systems with PLCs using OPC-UA, MQTT
  • Experience managing the full ML lifecycle
  • Familiarity with object detection, segmentation (semantic & instance), and classification models
  • Experience working with industrial cameras, optics, lighting, and trigger-based capture
  • Ability to balance inspection accuracy with false-positive vs flow-out risk
  • Ability to travel to North American Manufacturing Centers (including Canada & Mexico) and Japan

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s Degree in Engineering or related field
  • Experience with synthetic data generation (GANs, VAEs, NeRFs, Blender)
  • Experience deploying automotive production equipment
  • Background in robotics (operation, programming, safety)
  • Experience with high-speed inline inspection systems
  • Knowledge of IIoT data pipelines and industrial messaging standards
  • Experience with PFMEA, quality control plans, and equipment deployment processes
  • Academic research in emerging technologies
