Job Description
SENIOR SOFTWARE ENGINEER (EDGE DATA & TELEMETRY)
Freeform builds AI-native manufacturing systems that unify software, hardware, and physics to produce industrial-scale parts at the speed of human ideation. By treating manufacturing as a single integrated system, we unlock a new era of innovation where complex hardware is designed, built, and scaled without limits.
In this role, you will be responsible for architecting and implementing factory edge services, backend data pipeline infrastructure and advanced telemetry capabilities of our metal 3D printing systems. You will work with petabyte-scale data feeds, enabling Freeform engineers to rapidly access critical data across the factory ecosystem. You will work with our machine learning team to provide data pipelines that feed the printing industry’s first GPU-based ML platform. Ultimately, your code will enable the first production scale, high quality, and fully automated metal 3D printing factory.
3D printing experience is not required to be successful here - rather we look for smart, motivated, collaborative engineers who love solving hard problems and creating amazing technology!
Responsibilities:
- Design and implement a horizontally scalable platform that ingests millions of hardware sensor data points per second.
- Deliver high-quality data services that enable the machine learning team to access real-time and historical print data.
- Develop durable, efficient database solutions for real-time queries and large-scale analytics workloads.
- Create and operate data pipelines to collect, transform, and query petabyte-scale sensor and telemetry data.
- Write, test, and deploy reliable, maintainable software that improves automation and data quality across the factory ecosystem.
- Perform system calibrations, capture quality metrics, and monitor the long-term health and performance of printing systems.
