About the Role
We are looking for an experienced Art Director to join our team in Berlin. In this role, and in close collaboration with the Creative Director and Executive Producer, you will provide strategic leadership for the Art Department, shaping the visual direction of the project and ensuring it is translated into cohesive, high‑quality art across all disciplines. You will mentor and manage a team of artists, enabling them to deliver outstanding work while fostering a healthy, collaborative, and growth‑oriented environment.
As part of the project’s leadership team, you will work closely with other directors and leads to solve high‑level challenges, align on strategy, and ensure the project’s success from concept to live operations.
Your Mission
Department & Strategic Leadership
- Spearhead and maintain a high‑performing Art Department capable of delivering on the project’s art and business goals
- Represent the Art discipline at the leadership level, advocating for departmental needs and resolving cross‑functional challenges
- Define and communicate the project’s artistic vision, ensuring alignment across all art teams and consistent execution
- Drive long‑term visual strategy, pipelines, and standards that support scalability and high‑quality output

People Leadership & Team Development
- Manage and mentor artists of all seniority levels, supporting their career development, performance, and craft growth
- Conduct high‑quality 1:1s, provide constructive feedback, and address interpersonal or performance‑related issues with clarity and empathy
- Develop artists’ interpersonal and leadership skills, including communication, collaboration, and problem‑solving
- Foster a culture of ownership, trust, accountability, and artistic excellence
Operational Excellence
- Ensure art resources are allocated effectively and artists are empowered to deliver their best work
- Establish and maintain high standards for art documentation, communication, reviews, and cross‑disciplinary collaboration
- Partner with production and other directors to define strategy, maintain alignment, and support a strong workplace culture
- Act as a bridge between leadership and individual contributors, ensuring clarity, transparency, and shared understanding
- Oversee art pipelines, tools, and workflows to ensure efficiency and technical feasibility in collaboration with Tech Art and Engineering
Your Skill Tree
- Proven experience in the game industry, including leadership roles within Art Direction or similar senior art leadership positions
- Demonstrated ability to manage, inspire, and grow art teams in complex, creative environments
- Strong artistic vision with the ability to guide teams toward cohesive, high‑quality visual output
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills, especially in cross‑disciplinary settings
- Strong strategic thinking skills, with the ability to balance artistic ambition, production realities, and project‑level goals
- Self‑driven, highly motivated, and able to drive impactful outcomes
- Deep passion for gaming culture and strong empathy for players and product needs
- Experience shipping successful AA/AAA titles or working on live games‑as‑a‑service
- Strong understanding of modern art pipelines, tools, and cross‑disciplinary workflows
- Experience working with Unreal Engine

Location
This role is preferred to be on a hybrid setting on our Berlin. 100% remote is not possible, but we can discuss alternatives that involve regular visits to the office in Berlin.
