Optical System Engineer – Laser Communication (Lasercom)

The Role:

We are looking for a Laser Communication System Engineer to support the development of optical ground stations and satellite laser systems. This role involves system design, performance analysis, and integration of cutting-edge optical technology for space and ground applications. You will work closely with teams across engineering disciplines to deliver high-performance communication solutions.

Key Responsibilities:

• Design and develop optical ground stations for laser communication and satellite laser ranging.
• Define system architecture, requirements, and performance targets.
• Manage system interfaces and oversee integration and verification.
• Conduct simulations and performance analysis.
• Prepare technical documentation and coordinate with subcontractors.

• Support customer interactions and ensure project goals are met.

What You’ll Need:

• Master’s degree or PhD in Engineering or Physics.
• 3+ years of experience in optical systems for laser communication.
• Knowledge of free-space optical communication, satellite laser ranging, or laser beam propagation.
• Proficiency in Matlab, Python, or Octave for simulations.
• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work in a team.
• Good command of English.

Preferred Skills:

• Experience with adaptive optics, laser physics, photonics, optical detection, or tracking systems.
• Familiarity with optical communication system design and simulation tools.
• Knowledge of Zemax for optical system modeling.
