Job Description
We are seeking an experienced Databricks Administrator to lead the reliability, governance, and operational excellence of our Databricks Lakehouse environment. This is a one-year contract with strong potential for contract-to-hire conversion.
You’ll play a pivotal role in audit readiness for SOX and HIPAA, platform administration, and cross-functional collaboration. The ideal candidate combines deep hands-on Databricks expertise, a strong engineering background, and experience in regulated data environments.
Key Responsibilities:
- Administer, configure, and optimize Databricks workspaces (development, test, prod)
- Manage clusters, jobs, SQL warehouses, and enforce RBAC & Unity Catalog standards
- Drive audit readiness (SOX, HIPAA) with robust controls and detailed documentation
- Develop automation tools, scripts, and contribute to CI/CD/Infra-as-Code
- Oversee security, compliance, and performance monitoring for Databricks workloads
- Collaborate with vendors, internal audit, Azure DevOps/infrastructure, and compliance teams
- Support data engineering teams with best practices, training, and onboarding

Required Qualifications:
- 5+ years of Databricks or large-scale data platform administration
- Strong skills with Apache Spark, Delta Lake, Unity Catalog, job orchestration, and SQL
- Proficiency in Python and/or Scala, REST APIs, automation tooling
- Regulatory experience (SOX, HIPAA) and implementing operational controls in the cloud
- Deep scripting/reporting skills, especially for complex environments
