Perform routine and on-demand database maintenance tasks, including patching, upgrades, and backups
Participate in an on-call support rotation to provide 24/7 support

About the role

This is an exciting time as we modernize our operations—moving from manual tasks to automation, AI, and one-click CI/CD pipelines. We’re seeking talented professionals who excel in traditional database administration while embracing innovation and modernization.

This position is ideal for someone passionate about maintaining high-quality database environments while driving modernization. You will support operational work, manage CI/CD pipelines, implement automation, and ensure robust QA processes. Beyond technical expertise, we value strong communication and consultative skills to collaborate effectively with developers, architects, and application owners.

We are looking for individuals who take ownership of the operational state—someone who takes it personally when an environment they manage isn’t performing well and acts quickly to restore stability and optimize performance.


Key Responsibilities

  • Design, build, optimize, and maintain database systems with a focus on performance, security, and scalability.
  • Collaborate with application developers and solution architects to ensure optimal database and application performance.
  • Troubleshoot complex database issues promptly and accurately.
  • Maintain disaster recovery procedures for high availability and rapid recovery.
  • Deploy databases in compliance with GBS standards and business requirements.
  • Monitor and resolve performance and capacity issues.
  • Manage database maintenance tasks and meet ticket SLA expectations.
  • Stay current with emerging database technologies and assess their applicability.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related field.
  • Azure and AWS foundational certifications are required.
  • 8–10+ years of DBA experience with expert-level skills in at least one major platform (SQL Server preferred; multi-platform experience a plus: MySQL, Oracle, Postgres, CosmosDB, MongoDB, MariaDB).
  • Expert Oracle and SQL server database. Must be comfortable with advanced performance tuning.
  • Deep understanding of performance tuning, indexing, and integrated security.
  • Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic skills.
  • Experienced to review and optimize existing code.
  • Able to redesign index’s.
  • Familiarity with backup/recovery tools, Active Directory, and Windows Server.
  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines, automation, and cloud database environments.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
