The Role
As the Senior Cyber Security Specialist, you’ll play a critical hands-on role in strengthening and advancing the organisation’s security posture. You’ll contribute to project delivery, uplift SOC and cyber operations, enhance tooling, and engineer strong, scalable security controls across a diverse technology estate.
Key responsibilities include:
- Acting as the security engineering SME across group-wide projects, reviewing solution designs and embedding security from the outset
- Enhancing SOC capability through triage, threat investigation, tuning, and improving detection logic
- Leading vulnerability management activities using Qualys, Defender for Endpoint, and Azure-native scanning tools
- Coordinating and analysing penetration tests, ensuring findings are effectively remediated
- Engineering security improvements across Azure, M365, endpoint, identity, and network security stacks
- Driving cyber maturity uplift across multiple European business units with varying technology baselines

Our client is seeking a technically strong, hands-on cyber engineer who enjoys combining SOC experience, engineering capability, and project involvement.
You should bring:
- 4+ years’ experience in cyber security engineering, SOC, or technical security operations within complex environments
- Practical experience with Microsoft security tooling (Defender XDR, Sentinel, Defender for Cloud, Intune, Purview, Entra ID)
- Experience with Qualys, Mimecast, Zscaler or similar enterprise-grade security platforms
- Strong knowledge of Azure security principles, cloud governance, identity protection, and threat detection
- Solid understanding of incident response processes and vulnerability management
- Ability to collaborate across multiple business units and communicate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders
