Full-Stack Web Developer (AI-Augmented Development)

Role Description

We're looking for a Full-Stack Web Developer who builds with AI, not just builds AI features. You live in Cursor, you ship with Claude Code, you've probably already automated half your own workflow and you're looking for a team that operates the same way.

This is a full-time (optional) remote role where you'll work directly with the core team to build and scale the Matteblack AI platform. You'll own real features from day one, make architectural calls, and move fast. We don't care about your years of experience on paper, we care about what you can ship, how you think, and whether you're genuinely obsessed with what AI-augmented development makes possible.

What You'll Do

• Build and maintain features across the full stack of the Matteblack AI web application (React front-end, Node/Python back-end)
• Integrate and manage connections to third-party AI model APIs (image generation, video generation, LLMs)
• Develop clean, responsive, and visually polished UI/UX, design sensibility matters here
• Architect scalable back-end services including authentication, asset management, job queuing, and API routing
• Collaborate closely with the CPO and creative team to translate product vision into working software
• Optimize application performance, reliability, and deployment pipelines
• Contribute to technical planning, sprint execution, and code review processes
• Troubleshoot and resolve issues across the platform quickly and independently
• Continuously improve development velocity using agentic coding tools and AI-assisted workflows

Qualifications

Required:

• Professional full-stack web development experience (we value output and ability over years on a resume)
• Strong proficiency in React (Next.js a plus) and modern JavaScript/TypeScript
• Solid back-end experience with Node.js and/or Python (Express, FastAPI, or similar)
• Experience working with REST APIs and third-party API integrations
• Familiarity with cloud infrastructure (AWS, GCP, Vercel, Railway, or similar)
• Proficiency with databases (PostgreSQL, MongoDB, or equivalent)
• Strong understanding of responsive design and modern CSS (Tailwind preferred)
• Active, daily use of AI-powered development tools — Cursor, Claude Code, Antigravity, OpenClaw, or similar. This isn't a "nice to have," it's how we work.
• Self-directed, fast-moving, and comfortable with ambiguity, you don't wait for a spec to start building

Preferred:

• Experience building or experimenting with agentic workflows — chaining AI tools together, automating dev tasks, or building custom tooling on top of LLMs
• Background in creative technology, design tooling, or media production platforms
• Familiarity with WebSocket/real-time functionality, job queues (Redis, Bull), or media processing pipelines
• Experience with CI/CD, containerization (Docker), and DevOps fundamentals
• A genuine eye for design — you care about how things look and feel, not just whether they function

• Previous work at a creative agency, SaaS startup, or AI-focused company
• Degree in CS or related field, or equivalent hands-on experience (bootcamp, self-taught, shipped projects — all valid)
