Role Overview
We’re looking for a hands-on Software Engineering Team Lead who thrives in a fast-paced startup environment. This is a leadership role with a strong coding component: you’ll spend 30–50% of your time writing and reviewing code, while also leading, mentoring, and growing a team of full-stack engineers.
As a Team Lead at Slyce, you’ll not only define technical strategy but also work hands-on to deliver high-quality, scalable solutions in TypeScript, React, NodeJS.
What You’ll Do
- Lead by example: Actively contribute code weekly (30–50% of your time) in TypeScript, React, NodeJS.
- Manage & mentor: Directly lead a team of full-stack engineers, overseeing task distribution, code reviews, career growth, and performance management.
- Shape architecture & strategy: Work with senior leadership to define technical direction, roadmap, and key architecture decisions.
- Drive quality: Ensure best practices, maintain code quality standards, and deliver robust, scalable systems.
- Foster team culture: Create a collaborative, inclusive, and high-performance team environment with clear communication and ownership.
- Operate remotely: Effectively lead and support a distributed team across geographies.

What We’re Looking For
- Proven hands-on experience: 10+ years in full-stack engineering, with deep expertise in TypeScript, React, NodeJS.
- Current or recent coding focus: Strong track record of actively writing production code in React + TypeScript (not just oversight).
- Leadership experience: 3+ years managing teams of full-stack engineers with direct responsibility for task allocation, reviews, and performance management.
- Startup mindset: Comfortable working in fast-paced, evolving environments with a strong sense of ownership.
- Attention to detail: Takes pride in writing high-quality, maintainable code and pushes the team to do the same.
- Remote-ready: Excellent communicator with proven success leading distributed teams.
- Educational background: Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent experience.
