Job Description
Are you a senior marketing leader with strong commercial instincts and a passion for building growth systems that actually convert?
Join one of Australia’s leading boutique law firms and help us turn strategy, content, data, and systems into consistent demand, stronger relationships, and measurable growth.
We’re looking for a Chief Marketing Officer (CMO) / Head of Marketing & Growth to own the firm’s end-to-end growth engine — marketing, lead generation, and conversion — and act as the strategic owner of how new work comes into the business.
This is a genuinely senior role with real authority to design strategy, build systems, lead a small team of 3, and drive execution — not just “run campaigns”.
This role works closely with the Managing Director and the Head of Operations & Performance, ensuring marketing and sales efforts are aligned with firm priorities, capacity, and long-term growth.
About Us
Aspect Legal is a multi-award-winning boutique commercial law firm specialising in SME business sales and acquisitions. We are a values-driven, AI-first firm known for our excellence, innovation, and care.
We are proud contributors to initiatives such as B1G1, 1% Pledge, and 100 Deals, supporting communities in Malawi, Indonesia, Sri Lanka, and beyond.
We are also known for leading-edge marketing in the legal industry — including a bestselling and award-winning book (Buy Grow Exit), top-ranking podcasts (The Deal Room and Talking Law), strong content platforms, and deep partner relationships with accountants, brokers, and advisers.
The firm has been recognised as a Top Boutique Legal Firm in Australasia for the past two years, and Buy Grow Exit was awarded Business Book of the Year, reinforcing our position as leaders in SME M&A education and thought leadership.
As the firm continues to grow, we are looking for a senior marketing leader who can turn activity into outcomes and systems into predictable, scalable growth.
The Role
This is a senior leadership role responsible for owning and driving the firm’s marketing and growth strategy.
You will be accountable for how demand is generated, nurtured, converted, and measured — ensuring the firm grows in a way that is sustainable, aligned, and commercially sound.
This role includes both strategic ownership and hands-on leadership. You will lead a small marketing team (currently 3), and help build a modern, AI-enabled marketing engine that drives demand, revenue pipeline, and long-term client growth.
You will own the firm’s marketing and growth strategy end-to-end, ensuring it:
- Generates qualified leads aligned with the firm’s strategic priorities
- Nurtures prospects into booked, high-quality conversations
- Supports cross-sell and reactivation of additional services to existing clients
- Strengthens and scales the firm’s thought leadership brand

Day-to-Day Responsibilities
You will design and own the firm’s marketing and growth strategy across digital, content, and referral channels, with responsibility for the full lead lifecycle from awareness through to conversion.
This includes:
- Owning thought leadership and content distribution, including podcasts, education platforms, and intelligent content repurposing
- Driving digital marketing performance, including website optimisation, SEO, discoverability in AI-driven search, and key channels such as LinkedIn and YouTube
- Designing and overseeing email marketing, nurture sequences, webinars, and events
- Working with the Partnerships Manager to build, manage, and optimise referral and partnership programs in collaboration with key partners (accountants, brokers, advisers, and strategic partners)
- Overseeing lead generation, nurturing, handover, and conversion systems, ensuring strong alignment between marketing activity and sales conversations
- Reviewing marketing, pipeline, and conversion data to surface insights, improve performance, and focus effort where it matters most
- Ensuring marketing systems, automation, and AI tools are actively implemented and delivering measurable results
- Collaborating closely with operations and leadership to ensure marketing commitments align with delivery capacity and firm priorities
- Leading, mentoring, and managing marketing and sales support team members (where applicable)
- Continuously testing, measuring, refining, and improving performance across all channels and initiatives
You’ll Succeed in This Role If You…
- Are a strong strategic thinker who also enjoys building practical systems
- Have solid commercial instincts and care deeply about conversion, ROI, and outcomes
- Enjoy turning ideas into repeatable, measurable growth
- Are confident leading people, holding standards, and driving accountability
- Are comfortable with data, dashboards, and performance metrics
- Are curious, practical, and proactive about using digital tools, automation, and AI
- Enjoy building long-term relationships, not just running campaigns
Experience
- 5+ years in a senior marketing, growth, or commercial role (ideally in professional services or a service-based business)
- Proven experience owning marketing strategy and performance end-to-end
- Strong understanding of digital marketing, content, and lead generation systems
- Experience working cross-functionally with leadership, operations, and sales
- Comfortable leading teams in a remote environment
