Job Description

At Insmed, every moment and every patient counts — and so does every person who joins in. As a global biopharmaceutical company dedicated to transforming the lives of patients with serious and rare diseases, you’ll be part of a community that prioritizes the human experience, celebrates curiosity, and values every person’s contributions to meaningful progress. That commitment has earned us recognition as Science magazine’s No. 1 Top Employer for five consecutive years, certification as a Great Place to Work® in the U.S., and a place on The Sunday Times Best Places to Work list in the UK.

For patients, for each other, and for the future of science, we’re in. Are you?

About The Role

Here at Insmed Cambridge, we are seeking a highly skilled DevSecOps Engineer to join us as we build a wet-lab and computational platform to develop therapies for patients with rare genetic diseases.

You will be responsible for building and maintaining Infrastructure as Code (IaC) scripts & CI-CD pipelines to automate deployment of our cloud infrastructure, platforms, solutions, data stores & MLOps environment for bioinformatics, computational chemistry, human genetics, and machine learning.

You will collaborate with platform developers, cheminformatics experts, human geneticists, and machine learning / data science specialists. You will also act as a key bridge into our global Cloud and IT teams, working with them to ensure we uphold the highest standards while delivering at a speed.

What You'll Do

  • Infrastructure as Code (IaC): Design and deploy scalable, resilient & available cloud environments (GCP, AWS) using Terraform / CloudFormation. You will ensure that environment drift is a thing of the past.
  • Kubernetes: Develop, deploy, manage and monitor our Kubernetes clusters (GCP) that underpins our internal services and applications.
  • CI/CD & Automation: Build and maintain robust pipelines using Jenkins or GitHub Copilot to accelerate development and optimize code quality.
  • Configuration Management: Utilize Ansible, Chef, or Puppet to automate the configuration of high-performance computing (HPC) clusters and research workstations.
  • Shift-Left Security: Integrate SAST (Static Application Security Testing) and DAST (Dynamic Application Security Testing) directly into our pipelines. You’ll be responsible for making security a "gate" rather than an afterthought.
  • Automated GxP Validation: You will write and maintain DevSecOps scripts for the automated qualification (IQ/OQ/PQ) of AWS and GCP resources, ensuring they meet regulatory standards for data integrity and reliability.
  • Investigate and resolve technical issues in a timely fashion.
  • System engineering integration of multi-vendor services, pipelines and applications.
  • Support machine learning model deployment, training and inference.
  • Networking setup for internal / external cloud resource access by following the cloud networking best practices and target state networking architecture defined by the Insmed enterprise cloud & networking teams.
  • Scripting and automation of common cloud tasks.
  • Design procedures for system troubleshooting and maintenance.
  • Work extensively together with our internal security team to resolve security and resource access matters.

Who You Are

  • Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Bioinformatics or equivalent experience.
  • Excellent communication skills to collaborate with our in-silico and greater cloud and IT teams.
  • Deep understanding of cloud systems (especially GCP).
  • Strong understanding of infrastructure-as-code using Terraform (alternatively CloudFormation, Ansible, etc.).
  • Strong expertise in Kubernetes cluster setup, deployment and management.
  • Experience with GitHub CoPilot or Jenkins.
  • Experience with Docker and management / creation of Kubernetes clusters using GKE (Google Kubernetes Engine).
  • Ability to write, test, and review high-quality programs and scripts in python
  • Experience with git version control, preferably with familiarity of branching and merging.
  • Experience in deploying machine learning models.
  • Practical experience with SAST & DAST tools like SonarQube, Snyk within a CI/CD context.
