This role requires the ability to plan, organize, and coordinate work across multiple engineering disciplines and government agencies. The candidate must be an authority on safety reviews, with a strong ability to research, interpret, and apply complex regulations to eliminate or mitigate ESOH risks during test execution. Excellent analytical and risk management skills are essential.

Mission: Space Delta 12 leads the integrated test and evaluation of USSF capabilities in order to rapidly field combat-credible weapon systems and tactics.
Purpose of position: To serve as the Delta 12 Chief of Test Safety, establishes policy and maintains the integrity of Delta 12's test safety review process to ensure independent government review of safety planning to eliminate, reduce, and mitigate risks during test project execution.
Duties:
• Leads Delta 12's test safety review program process. Formulates Delta test safety policy and direction, overseeing 100 project safety reviews annually ensuring test safety plans have identified and mitigated all Environment, Safety and Occupational Health (ESOH) risks.
• Serves as the authority on test safety plan composition and safety review board processes and execution.
• Manages the test safety engineering workforce in concert with Delta
organizations to ensure an adequate number of trained and effective test safety engineers can support the Delta's test workload.
• Provides technical safety expertise for space test and systems during technical interchange meetings, briefings, conferences, and seminars related to policy development, test integration, program planning, advanced technologies, and support system concepts.
• Serves as Delta 12 Risk Management Advisor/Instructor.

• Expert knowledge of advanced concepts, principles, and techniques across multiple interrelated and integrated technical and test engineering disciplines.
• Expert knowledge of test safety evaluation involving ground-based and orbital space systems.
• Expert knowledge of DOD and USSF test conduct, coordination and supervision, data analysis/evaluation and applicable test truth sources, modeling and simulation, safety package preparation, and administrative aspects of
space test programs.
• Strong ability to plan and organize work, coordinate between various electronic/aerospace/mechanical engineering and test disciplines, and coordinate with other Air Force, Space Force, DoD, and other domestic and foreign government and civil agencies.
• Strong ability to research, analyze, interpret, and apply rules, regulations, and procedures to a variety of situations and to recommend timely and economical solutions.
Requirements for the position:
• U.S. citizenship
• Must be able to obtain and maintain a Top-Secret w/SCI clearance.
• Required to handle and safeguard sensitive and/or classified information in accordance with regulations to reduce potential compromise.
• This position is designated as a Testing Designated Position (TDP) under the Air Force Civilian Drug Testing Program. Illegal drug use by employees in sensitive positions present a clear threat to the mission of the Air Force, national security, and public safety. It is required that you (a) refrain from the use of illegal drugs and (b) if requested, submit to urinalysis testing.
• May be required to travel by military or commercial aircraft in the performance of TDY assignments.

• Degree: Engineering. To be acceptable, the program must: (1) lead to a bachelor's degree in a school of engineering with at least one program accredited by ABET; or (2) include differential and integral calculus and courses (more advanced than first-year physics and chemistry) in five of the following seven areas of engineering science or physics: (a) statics, dynamics; (b) strength of materials (stress-strain relationships); (c) fluid mechanics, hydraulics; {d) thermodynamics; (e) electrical fields and circuits; (f) nature and properties of materials (relating particle and aggregate structure to properties); and (g) any other comparable area of
fundamental engineering science or physics, such as optics, heat transfer, soil mechanics, or electronics.
OR
Combination of education and experience -- college-level education, training, and/or technical experience that furnished (1) a thorough knowledge of the physical and mathematical sciences underlying engineering, and (2) a good understanding, both theoretical and practical, of the engineering sciences and techniques and their applications to one of the branches of engineering.
• Must meet the Defense Acquisition Workforce Improvement Act (DAWIA) requirements applicable to the duties of the position.
