MSTS is seeking a Facility/Support Engineer (Senior Engineer) at our Device Assembly Facility (DAF). This position will be a hybrid System Engineer position specifically tailored to support additional needs of the DAF Facility Testbed Engineering (F&TE) Team. DAF F&TE consists of system engineers, Cognizant System Engineers, Design Authorities, and associated personnel responsible for maintaining Configuration Management and supporting maintenance and operation of the engineered systems within this Nuclear Facility. The position will support with planning, coordination, and management of work that includes design engineering, construction, and other support organizations. The DAF is the largest nuclear facility located within the Forward Areas of the Nevada National Security Site (NNSS) that supports Stockpile Stewardship mandates and related Experiments performed by the National Weapons Laboratories.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist and help lead the system engineering staff with development, tracking, and closeout of change control documentation.
- Manage preparation of red-line drawings following post-construction activities.
- Manage validation of physical configuration and updating system documents for Configuration Management (CM), including walkdowns of structures, systems, and components.
- Assist with receipt, review, and distribution of design documents and monitoring of design review deadlines.
- Support with other assigned nuclear safety activities, including preparation and review of material-at-risk (MAR) calculations and Unreviewed Safety Question (USQ) Screenings and Determinations.
- Develop knowledge of various facility operations, systems, and processes.
- Develop a working knowledge of codes and standards of other disciplines.
- Apply knowledge and expertise in multiple technical disciplines and ingenuity to implement effective technical solutions.
- Often serves as a member of work teams.
- Monitor work of and provide guidance to skilled technicians and other support personnel.
- Provide direction, assistance, and mentor early career engineers.

- Bachelor's degree in an engineering program accredited by the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET) required for Civil, Mechanical and Electrical engineering degrees
- Or, Calculus-based STEM bachelor's degree in engineering
- Or, for Architects, Certification from the National Council or Architectural Registration Board (NCARB)
- Or Professional Engineer license
- Plus at least 5 years' relevant experience. Skill building experience must demonstrate either deeper technical specialization or additional cross-disciplinary knowledge; graduate research experience may be recognized.
- Knowledge of how codes and standards of other disciplines affect their discipline.
- Demonstrated desire to learn and innovate.
- Demonstrated ability to follow instructions and procedures.
- Knowledge of instrumentation & control, electrical, mechanical or electromechanical components.
- Should be self-motivated and able to complete assigned tasks with little to no supervision.
- Ideally, the applicant will have strong time-management skills. Be well organized, maintain safe work habits and have a broad range of technical interests and education.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills, including the ability to write reports and technical documents.
- Work schedule for this position will be 4/10s, Monday - Thursday (subject to change).
- Pre-placement physical examination, which includes a drug screen, is required. MSTS maintains a substance abuse policy that includes random drug testing.
- Must possess a valid driver's license.

Annual salary range for this position is: $101,524.80 - $152,297.60
Starting salary is determined based on the position market value, the individual candidate education and experience and internal equity.
