Description
SAIC is seeking a Game Development Engineer to support the Army Navy Business Unit. SAIC is seeking a Game Development Engineer to support the Army Navy Business Unit. The candidate will become a member of a training development team primarily focused on developing serious games for a diverse audience. The candidate will be a member of an agile scrum development team working closely with fellow programmers, artists, and Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) to develop engaging interactive training products. The candidate must be a self-starter who takes ownership of their work.
This is a fully remote (work from home) position.
The chosen candidate for this position will be responsible for but not limited to the following:
- Interact with team members, artists, and Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) to develop products for military and commercial clients utilizing current versions of the Unity game engine.
- Provide direction to the game/course design process, from prototype to completion and sustainment
- Design, develop, and test code, fix bugs, and profile and optimize code as directed
- Follow best practices, development processes, and coding standards
- Develop and collaborate on technical designs with other software engineers
- Write efficient code with descriptive comments and maintain attention to detail
- Take ownership of his/her work as a highly motivated self-starter
- Possess a demonstrated ability to meet tight deadlines, prioritize workload, manage time efficiently, and work in a team environment

Required Education:
- Bachelor's degree and two (2) years' experience; additional four (4) years' experience can be considered in lieu of degree.
- Must have the ability to obtain and an active Secret security clearance; ship required.

- Demonstrated experience with and proficiency in Unity Game Engine, C#, and JavaScript is required.
- Knowledge of Windows and the Visual Studio IDE.
- Understanding of 3D transformation hierarchies.
- Experience with 3D game development and design process
- Experience with Agile development
- Experience with version control software, such as GitLab (Perforce is a plus).
- A portfolio with examples of game or eLearning programming is required (web-accessible samples are preferred).
- Demonstrated experience with AR/VR and mobile development desired
- Experience with 3D modeling and texturing for gaming
- Experience programming in C++, Objective-C, HTML, JSON and/or XML is desired
