Role: Security Engineer

Contract: 6 months (strong potential for extension)

Hourly Rate: 90-100/hr INC

Your New Role

As a Security Engineer, you will help secure our platform, infrastructure, and internal systems by designing and implementing defensive controls, driving vulnerability management, and strengthening our detection and response capabilities. You will partner closely with Engineering, IT, and Product teams to ensure our environment meets the expectations of enterprise‑grade security while maintaining usability and performance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Vulnerability Management: Maintain and evolve the vulnerability management program, ensuring timely identification, prioritization, and remediation of risks.
  • Security Partnership: Collaborate with IT to strengthen email security, anti‑virus, endpoint protection, and VPN technologies.
  • Monitoring & Detection: Define logging requirements, enhance alerting, and support continuous threat‑monitoring capabilities.
  • Incident Response: Serve as a first responder for security alerts. Triage, investigate, and support incident response workflows.
  • Threat Modeling: Analyze new and existing applications/services to identify risks and define mitigation strategies.
  • Security Architecture: Design, architect, and implement security controls across cloud services and microservice environments.


What You’ll Need to Succeed

  • 3+ years of experience in Security Engineering or Security Operations.
  • Strong understanding of SOC 2 Type II and familiarity with PCI-DSS.
  • A DevSecOps mindset with hands‑on cloud security experience (microservices, cloud‑native tooling, secure CI/CD).
  • Experience with IAM frameworks such as SAML, OAuth, and OpenID.
  • Proven experience with vulnerability management and security remediation workflows.
  • Background in incident response (SIRT member or incident commander experience is a plus).
  • Strong collaboration skills and the ability to partner with technical and non‑technical teams.

Bonus Points

  • Comfortable working in a Mac‑based environment.
  • Experience with: GCP, GlobalProtect VPN, CrowdStrike, Arctic Wolf, Jira, Okta, Google Workspace.
  • Automation experience to improve or scale security/IT workflows.
  • Familiarity with GitHub and Kubernetes.
  • Relevant certifications (GCP/AWS Security, GIAC, GDAT, CISSP, CEH, CISM).
  • Experience protecting SaaS products.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related STEM discipline.
