As we continue to expand, we are seeking a highly skilled IT Network & Systems Engineer to join our team. This role is ideal for an experienced and technically capable individual with a strong focus on network design, implementation and support.
The Opportunity
This role offers the chance to take ownership of a complex networking environment while also supporting broader systems infrastructure. You will be responsible for designing, configuring and maintaining an Australia-wide network system for one of our key clients based in Canberra. You’ll work closely with our broader technical team and client stakeholders to ensure seamless delivery and ongoing performance of secure, resilient IT networks.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, implement and maintain network infrastructure including firewalls, routers, switches, and wireless systems (Cisco/Meraki)
- Proactively monitor and troubleshoot network performance, ensuring high availability and reliability
- Provide advanced support for network-related incidents and escalations
- Conduct site assessments and develop network topology documentation and improvement plans
- Maintain and support Microsoft-based systems including Windows Server, Active Directory, Hyper-V and Office 365
- Participate in system and network migrations, upgrades and integration projects
- Collaborate with internal teams and third-party vendors to deliver technical solutions
- Maintain accurate documentation of system and network configurations, procedures and incident resolutions
- Contribute to continuous improvement of IT processes, standards and security posture
- Provide support to our key client who operates in a 24x7 environment, which may occasionally require availability for after-hours technical escalation or troubleshooting.

Essential Skills and Experience
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in a similar role with a strong focus on network engineering
- Proven experience designing and supporting complex network environments (including multi-site, VLANs, VPNs and SD-WAN)
- Strong hands-on experience with Cisco networking equipment, with CCNA required (CCNP highly regarded)
- Demonstrated experience with Meraki SD-WAN solutions and cloud-managed networks
- Sound knowledge of firewall configuration, policy management and threat mitigation (Cisco, Fortinet or similar)
- Strong understanding of IP networking, routing protocols (BGP, OSPF), DNS/DHCP and QoS
- Proficiency in Microsoft technologies – Office 365, Azure, Windows Server, Hyper-V
- Experience with monitoring, backup and RMM tools (e.g. Datto, Autotask)
- Working knowledge of cybersecurity principles and network hardening practices
- Excellent communication and client service skills
- Ability to manage competing priorities and work both independently and in a team
- Valid Australian driver’s licence and reliable vehicle for client site visits
- Must be based in (or willing to relocate to) Canberra
