- Design, write, and maintain complex PostgreSQL stored procedures, functions, and triggers
- Refactor and modernize legacy backend code with an eye toward performance, stability, and maintainability
- Analyze and optimize slow queries, indexes, and execution plans
- Collaborate with frontend and product teams to translate business requirements into solid backend solutions
- Improve database schemas and data models without breaking production (hero work)
- Participate in code reviews and help raise the overall quality bar
- Troubleshoot production issues and fix root causes, not just symptoms

What We’re Looking For
- 3+ years of backend development experience
- Deep, hands-on PostgreSQL expertise
- Extensive experience writing and maintaining stored procedures and complex SQL
- Proven success refactoring legacy systems and improving performance
- Strong understanding of relational database design and normalization
- Experience working in a fully remote, distributed team
- Ability to work independently and communicate clearly without needing constant supervision
