The Senior Pathfinding Nanofabrication Engineer is responsible for pioneering and validating new techniques to create Photonic’s next generation of silicon-based qubits. This role serves as the bridge between external vendors, process development, and in‑house implementation, ensuring that novel workflows are fully integrated into our process with high reproducibility and yield. As a team player with an in-depth understanding of semiconductor device fabrication, you will spend time in a cleanroom environment, as well as collaborating daily with a diverse, multi-disciplinary group of engineers, scientists, and other technical team members.
Please include a cover letter with your resume (in one file) describing how you would be a great fit at Photonic and what attributes you could bring to our growing team.
WHAT WE NEED YOU TO DO
- Develop routines and processes to fabricate Photonic's next generation of chips. Processes are diverse and may include ion implantation, photo- and electron-beam lithography, wet and plasma processing, material deposition, wafer thinning, dicing, and packaging
- Drive pathfinding efforts to mature new process capabilities from early experimentation to reliable implementation
- Coordinate technical work with external partners and ensure effective execution of experimental plans
- Lead day‑to‑day technical operations which includes tracking samples, prioritizing work, and maintaining schedules
- Hire, mentor, and technically lead a small team of technicians and junior engineers while remaining hands‑on in processing and experimentation
- Collaborate closely with device engineers, scientists, and nanofabrication teams across multiple locations
- Perform in‑line metrology and data analysis to evaluate process performance and reproducibility
- Maintain detailed process documentation, experimental records, and operating procedures
- Communicate results, risks, and recommendations clearly to cross‑functional technical teams
- Contribute to solving complex fabrication and integration challenges and to add to Photonic’s IP portfolio
