Job Description

The Role

Are you tired of being the highest performing dev in your last job but barely making an impact on the final product? Did it feel lonely when you overachieved in your standard 9-5?

Then we might be looking for you. Clever Markets is looking to contract a full stack developer who wants to build stuff that matters.

You will co-own and develop our internal and client-facing dashboards to the next level.

About Clever Markets

Clever Markets helps institutional energy trading teams make consistent, repeatable trading decisions.

We turn sophisticated quantitative signals and systematic trading methodologies into tools that traders can actually use under pressure, in live markets. The focus is on being practical, accessible and executable.

We started out as the underdog in 2023 and are now helping some of the world’s largest energy trading firms with structured technical analysis systems that drive real trading outcomes.

Responsibilities

You will be working closely with our senior quantitative analyst to optimise the existing code and build upon it.

You will:

  • Co-own, maintain, and develop our internal and client-facing dashboards (backend and frontend)
  • Ensure production reliability and data integrity
  • Document logic clearly and maintain version discipline
  • Contribute to architecture decisions and system scalability
  • Clean and optimise code, debugging

What We’re Looking For

Must-have:

  • At least 5 years of Python programming experience (mid-level at least)
  • Experience with AWS services and Git
  • Programmatic AI skills including Langchain, LangSmith
  • Good software design skills for building with scalability in mind

Nice to have:

  • Advanced AI Engineering skills for building even more customised AI workflows
  • Nextjs + React + Typescript OR Django for frontend dashboard development
  • Strong quantitative and programming skills (Python, R, C++, or similar), with experience in building trading models and systematic strategies.
  • Solid grasp of risk management, hedging, and derivatives pricing.

Compensation and benefits

Type: contract, 9h Mon - Fr (initial six-months contract, extension likely)

Location: fully remote, Singapore time zone

Compensation: Competitive, aligned with experience and impact.

Why Join

We are building a niche that currently doesn't exist. At Clever Markets, you won’t just do work. You will do the most meaningful work of your career. You will be surrounded by high performers, pushed to grow, and given the tools, coaching, and ownership to make a real impact.

We are building a team to scale and the right candidate will be given the opportunity to join from the beginning. If you want to work alongside people who challenge you, support you, and celebrate your wins, you are in the right place.

Because you will be hired as an independent contractor, we can offer fully remote work. This is an increasingly rare perk in the industry.

Because we are a team of three, you will get direct access to the founder and will work closely with our senior quantitative analyst, meaning that your ideas are heard.

We hire high agency, smart and humble people. You will work harder than you have before but you will also learn and grow more than you have before. We are not for everyone. We are for people who want to grow.

How to apply

Send us your CV and portfolio that illustrates at least all ‘must-have’ skills required for this role. Also state your expected monthly compensation range. Failure to comply will lead to a rejection of the application.
