Sr. Systems Engineer, Managed Operations | Madrid, Community of Madrid, Spain | Hybrid


We're working with Amazon Web Services on this exciting opportunity. As a Senior Systems Engineer, you will play a crucial role in the launch and ongoing operations of the new European Sovereign Cloud, ensuring high-availability AWS services for EU customers. This is a chance to influence the evolution of AWS technology and deliver scalable solutions within a cutting-edge environment.


The Role

• Lead operations and development for high-availability AWS services (EC2, S3, Dynamo, Lambda, Bedrock).

• Oversee the launch of the European Sovereign Cloud (ESC) in 2025.

• Collaborate with global AWS teams and influence service and technology evolution.

• Enhance daily operations, focusing on availability, reliability, latency, and efficiency.

• Participate in on-call rotations to resolve out-of-hours incidents.

• Contribute to building a best-in-class development engineering and operations team.


What You'll Need

• Deep systems engineering experience across hardware, software, networking, and OS.

• Proficiency in scripting languages like Bash, Python, or Ruby.

• Extensive Linux and networking expertise for diagnostics, prevention, and issue resolution.

• Proven ability in root cause analysis, performance optimization, and robust monitoring.

• Experience creating and improving Standard Operational Procedures (SOPs).

• Must be a national of an EU member state and residing in the EU.
